GERMANS CONSIDER POSSIBLE EFFECT OF i KNOX PEACE MEASURE fBy Associated Press) COBLENZ, May 3. The Germans of Coblens, have been speculating with deep Interest on tbe possible effect of the Knox resolution in congress declaring that a state of war no longer exists between America and Gerirany. Whether he adoption of that resolution would cause the withdrawal of the American forces In Germany has been the tnain subject of discussion In the German press of the occupied terri
tories. The correspondent, after Interviewing the most representative Germans, of all classes in Coblenz, can say that to the majority of Germans here, the vlthdrawal of the Americans would oe regarded as regrettable. Prefer Americans. In administrative and political circles, they have been living in dire fear of the French taking over the area which would be abandoned by the Americans. "If we must nave occupation let it be American," is the consensus of opinion. Among tradesmen and shopkeepers ihe feeling of regret would be unanimous. "The tailor next door has become a millionaire", said the boofc store proprietor with mingled feelings ef admiration and envy, to the correspondent. "That book store man is ure reaping a paper mark harvest,'' was the way the tailor put it. There is only one class of the population which looks upon the presence of American soldiers darkly.
They are the young men who did not
participate in the late war. Between them and the average doughboy there
is no love lost and no fraternization. From time to time there are even a few clashes. The doughboy has it that the young German is jealous of the former's popularity with the frau11ns. Others who look deeper say the larger cause is that these young men relatively have not suffered from the war and they are looking to the future in a spirit of revenge.
Uon until she has won recognition through her work in other studios. MURRAY In order to get the proper atmosphere for the Alice Calhoun production, "The Charming Deceiver," which is being shown at the Murray theater, Vitagraph leased a tenement on the lower East Side of New York and established the young star in the apartment. Miss Calhoun quickly made friends with her neighbors and during the two days' stay in the apartment, aided several weary mothers by taking cars of the children while the mother did
washing. In the story Miss Calhoun plays the , role of Edith Marsden, a young woman j married to a convict. She lives in a
small tenement in Montreal and at the opening of the story is evicted. Thiv neighbors of the East Side tenement district who had made friends with
Miss Calhoun were much incensed and wrathful when stalwart moving men entered the young woman's apartment and began the work of dispossessment MURRAY VAUDEVILLE. Richmond has as her guests the first half of this week, two self-confessed opera singers; two seals with human Intelligence (according to whom you compare them) ; one harmless fellow who does as the seals direct; Sllber and North in "Basbfoolery," they call it a good name, for it begins with "Tom;" and one fellow who delieves the mental stress caused by the outbursts of his - more boisterous partner. Ina Kuhn does not headline the bill but she could easily do so. Art crops out all over her art of taking her hearers into confidence while she tells the most amazing stories art of piano playing art of real singing ability when she allows herself the pleasure of a few notes. The audience likes her. A mavelously rich voice belongs to the lady in "Carletta and Lewis." She rivals the kind identified with our symphonies. And too, we know that teaw knows vaudeville. WASHINGTON George Walsh, the popular star of William Fox, will open at the Washing
ton Theatre Thursday in a new story from the pen of Thomas F. Fallon, entitled "Dynamite Allen." The scenes re laift in the mining regions of PennsylvanU. It is a highly dramatic tale, tense atd absorbing, with a delightful romance .running like a golden thread throuirt.many sensational and thrilling tituatiofts. One f the most astounding climaxes occurs, when Walsh, driving a locomotive plunges through an open bridge leaping from the cab as the cngint sinks in the river. The destruction f a large residence by fire of cour is spectacular. One of the greatest thrills, according to report, is Mipflied when Walsh, trapped in 'the botom of a mine, discovers that it is tein? flooded. A cast of sterling players has Edna Mvrphy as leading lady. , MURRETTE 'Miriam MacDonald, who plays the rtle of "Helen" in Katherine MacRonald's Associated First National attraction, "Trust Your Wife." which is now at the Murrette Theatre, is the third of the MacDonald sisters to invade f.lmdom. Miriam is the middle sister in age and has embarked on a rcreen career following the enonnou3 f-uecess of both her younger and older sister, Mary Mac Laren and Katherine MacDonald.. Miriam has appeared in minor parts in several of Mis-s MacDonaid's productions and two of Miss MacLaren's successes. Her role as "Helene" was played so successfully in "Trust Your "Wife" that her sisters have encouraged her to carve a name for herself in the hall of cinema fame. In order that the public will not believe she receives favors from her star-
listers Miriam MacDonald has resolved
to aopear in no more of their produc

Americans. It's extremely light veined that "Bashfoolery" of Silber and North's. Yet is simpleness appeals to those who attend for the love of lighthearted mirth. "When Tiddle-de-Winks," sung by the pair, was very effective.
Wasteeka and his two undestudies are on first. The understudies, in this case, do all of the acting. They are two seals, trained to juggle and balance articles upon their noses. A number of surprising feats are accomplished by the two animals. Alice Calhoun in "The Charming Deceiver," is the film feature. Marvin.
