citizens of Hagerstown to unite upon advocacy of the "Greencastle plan" and as shown by the election figures, that plan carried by a large majority inside the corporation, the doubtful point, according to advocates. Thi strong points claimed by the opponents were the country districts, especially the eastern district, . It was necessary for the proposition to be carried by a majority in both city ana country to be adopted. - The campaign therefore centered upon the country vote, with the final result of a vote of 117 for to 128 against in the east district, a majoritv rst 11 against there, which was overbalanced by a mr.jority of 33 in the Five Points district, where the vote was 125 for to 2 against. The majority in the country was therefore 22 in f.ivor of the plan. In the city the vote was 354 for to 163 against. The strength of the Vote shows that there were few stay-at-homes. Tho total registration oi legal voters for ordinary elections in'the township is 1,036. the total vote at this special election, when many moie than at other elections can vote, was 1,079.
