The game was somewhat of a slugfest, featured by many extra base hits and fast fielding by both teams. Both pitchers were touched frequently for Base hits, but were effective with men on bases. Knott, center fielder for the Grays was the star of the game, hitting a home run p.nd triple in six trips to the plate. Cregar, of the Grays, also was heaTy with the willow, getting three hits out of four times up Mannon and Cooper were the heavy men with the stick for the visitors, the former collecting four hits out of five trips to the bat and the latter hit safely three time. EVERY FIRST ENABLES QUAKERS TO DEFEAT CINCINNATI U, 102-20 By taking every irst, nine secon-l places and six thirds, Earlham swept the field clean Saturday in the me' with Cincinnati university on lt?M field, the final score being 102-20. Inasmuch as Cincinnati had earlier in the season defeated Indiana- university in an indoor meet, such an everwhelming score was hardly. anticipated. A week's training, however, permitted faster records and in spite of the heavy track and a high wind, most of the records set a week ago were bettered. Robertson, of Earlham, made bis second sensational run of the season, winning the half-mile from Mittendorf. After racing side by side in a 220 yard sprint. The time was 2, 7.3-5. Robinson, in a race almost as ' spectacular won the 440 dash in a flashy finish, after being forced to trail the major part of the race. Dal ton in the two-mile run recovering from his injuries of the week previous, won his race in the last three hundred yards. In the field events, Lawler with a leap of twenty-two feet in the broad jump, succeeded Mn setting the best mark in that part of the meet High point honors went to Captain Ivey, who won first in the 120 yard high hurdles-, 220 yard low buries, high jump and second in the broad Jump Lawler contributed eleven points in the hurdles and broad jump. Fauquher in the dashes, Johnson In the weights and Dalton in the distances, e ach pulled down two firsts and added ten points to the Earlham count. Fitshold scoring six points led Cincinnati in the scoring column. Normal school at Kalamazoo. MToh., next Saturday, promises to be a much better contested meet, but with, another week to prepare. Earlham- tracksters should place well in every event, and pull down the heavy end of the score. Summary. 100-Yard Dash Fauquhar fE), Emslie (E), Walls (C). Time. 11 seconds.
