NORTHERN FERTILIZER ARRIVES; FARMERS TRY NEW ANALYSIS The first car of 45 per cent phos phate goods, and ahout the 25th, car ol fertilizer from the Federated Market ing Service arrived and was being set for unloading at Omer Whelan's ware house Tuesday morning. This is a fer tillzer in which much Interest; ba.been manifested by farmers of tht counfy, and considerable ikepticlsn: as well. In order to overcome that skepticism, and to introduce the un usual analysis, the manufacturer; have made arrangements to bring ir a carload and allow it to be distributed in small lots, in order that every ont may have an opportunity to try if. The unusual feature of this fertil izer is the analysis which shows 4T per cent of phosphoric acid, whereat not more than 16 per cent can usuall be found in any of the fertilizers com monly used. This high percentage ha? been found neceesary to combat higr freight rates, as the factory and phos phate deposits are located in Montana Planters Are Equipped Many doubts had been expressed a; to whether the planters and drills could handle the fertilizer in econ omical quantities since only one third of the usual bulk would be necessary E. P. Taylor, representative of the company states that the Blackhawk John Deere, and Hayes will handle down to 50 pounds through their fertilizer attachments satisfactorily. The company advocates a bag an acre (125 pounds) when broadcasted, but when drilled cautions against more 1"" " p"u . anu .""J? ' Al P .1 1 1 2 A L. Arrangements have been made with a local feed merchant, with a warehouse on the tracks, to handle the fer tilizer at a fixed charge per bag. The j representative announces that a com- ; mission all fertilizer sold will also be i paid to the Federated Marketing Serjvice. which has the sole agency in i Indiana. A part of a car will be sent to Centerville to the co-operative elevator which will handle it for that locality. i Man; . farmers have expressed thci , intention of making a trial of th. their e super-phosphate" as it is called, and I a test is being made on the fcastharen ! farm.
