them looking nice and I always wipe them off and polish them up as soon as I remove them. Need them? Of course 1 don't, but it's just a hobby with me. Anyway I think taking care of your shoes is an economy, especially in these days of high prices, and even if a woman didn't have so many pairs as I have, if she would have shoe trees for every pair and would take care of them as soon as she takes them off, they would last a lot longer." WASHINGTON. Charles Ray plays a small-town iad with a longing to become a detective in his new Thomas H. Ince picture, "A Village Sleuth," in which he is seen at the Washington Theater during the latter part of the week. As the wouldbe Sherlock Holmes, Charlie gets his ideas of detecting out of such classics as Nick Carter and has a completely equipped "office out in his father's barn. A full line of disguises, an antiquated revolver, and a. bull's-eye lantenv&re just a part of his tools. But they are sufficient to enable him to solve a real mystery and win the girl in the case. "A Village Sleuth" was written by Agnes Christine Johnston and Winifred Westover is the leading woman. It is a Paramount. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE. The De Bourge Sisters, who are one of the features of the bill opening ar. The Murray Monday for the first half, are known as "Those Funny French Tricksters." In plain view of the audience, one of the sisters steps into a box, 2 feet by 2 feet, which is above the level of the stage about three feet, supported by four legs. There are no traps or minors used. The box is clear of the stage and is so constructed that no one could escape without being ee, no covering being used. Yet fifteen sharp army sabers arc thrust, through the box .from every direction, and then withdrawn and the young lady emerges from the box as the last saber is withdrawn, waving two immense serpentine streamers. Where these streamers come from and how they were concealed is assuredly a source of wonder to the audience, for before the girl enters the box it is shown to be absolutely empty and the girl is so dressed that this ad-
