If the number on the ticket corresponded with the last figures in the cents column which appeared under the subject of bank clearings in an Indianapolis newspaper, the holder of that number was entitled to a suit of clothes, the affidavit adds. 'The ticket?, the form of which" is filed as an exhibit with the affidavit, state that the plan is an advertising scheme, the plan being for the purchaser of the tickets to buy for 23 successive weeks, being given a ?5i) suit of clothes at the end of thai, time. The charge states that one of these tickets was sold to William Bradway and others to divers persons whose names and addresses are unpan from being a violation of the law. Mr. Gross was arrested by Sheriff Carl Wad man Friday morning and released under $500 bond. Mr. Gross stated that his plan was not a lottery plan and that it was legal in every respect. He stated that is was merely a plan for selling goods on the credit plan, the purchaser to pay $2 a week for 25 weeks, at the end of which time he had a suit of clothes paid for and this was given him. Mr. Gross was convicted of operating a lottery previously, but stated that his present plan was different from the one previously operated. He operates a clothing store at 519 Main street, which is commonly called "Abe 144." No Word Received From Stranded Lake Steamer (By Associated Prees) SAULT STE MARIE, Mich., April 15. No word had been received early today from the steamer Martin Mullen which went aground off White Fish point, ninety miles from here during a fog Wednesday night. Two tugs dispatched to the vessel's aid expected to reach the scene of the season's first marine accident in this section early last night. First reports said the Mullen was resting on th sandy shoals and was in no immediate danger. The steamer Frank Billings, which arrived here yesterday, announced heavy swells in Lake Superior.
