Origin is Unknown
Fire Chief Miller expressed the
opinion that the fire may have started from an electric iron which was left
burning. Mr. Jameson discredited
this, saying that the iron had not
Deen usea since early in ine after
noon.
The most damage was done to boys'
clothing shelved in the rear of the
store room. The case in which this clothing was held was virtually destroyed. The rear of the store room was gutted by the blaze. Smoke caused my the burning clothes made fighting the fire difficult, according to firemen. All the lights in the building were out which further added to difficulties. Elmer Berg, a fireman from No. 2 company was slightly injured by bumping into a glass show case. Mr. Jameson stated that hi3 loss was covered by insurance. He comIimented the work of the fire deDart-
ment in preventing further I06S to his store.
Right at the start of the Spring arid Summer Season, with thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in our store, we were hit by this misfortune. The news story at the left from The Palladium on the evening after our fire, tells the tale.
