"On recommendation of the governor," said Mr. Hin.es,' "I am writing you relative to the matter of appointing an attendance, officer. The acts of 1915, page 151, provide for the election of an attendance officer May 1 of each year, or the Monday following if May 1 comes on Sunday. House bill No. 274, by implication, repeals the principal provisions of the compulsory school attendance law now in force, including that i part relating to the election, of attendance officers. Take Office Aug. 1. "The new law probably will become effective between May 1 and May 15.
