"The master mind," presenting Hope Eden, "The Miracle Girl," who tells you wtat you want to know. Lewis and Norton are responsible for the leading act playing the present 'bill. Their act is one of the longest, as well as cleverest, that" It has been our pleasure to view at the Murray. It presents the rise of a hotel clerk through the various stages of manager and owner, "and then guest. He Is ably assisted by a young lady who is equally appealing. Harry Ellis, tenor, has a voice that completely , fills every inch . of the theater. He sings "Hush-a-bye Baby", The Only Girl That Made Me Cry," and "Down the Trail to Home Sweet Home," as few. vaudeville artists do. Both Lockwood and Rush drop, as it were, from the recent "Rubeville" offering, to sing for the Richmond playgoer. They appear in "hick" costume, r- md while their brand of humor is rgood, they are better in duets. Youth, clean cut and attractive, is most refreshing in the offering by Ethel Keller and chums; In songs and dancing they captivate. They seem to tHon to but one family, and work with perfect unison, v - 1 .. Marvin. WASHINGTON. Maurice Tourneur's "The County Fair" is announced for a special engagement at the Washington theatre. The story is taken from the play in which Neil Burgees starred all over the country for many seasons. It is one of those studies of rural American life which ere chuck full of heart interest, quaint humor and all the excitement incident to a day at a county fair and- winding up with a thrilling race' in which the entry of Eats Like a Wood Chopper "After many discouraging years of buffering from stomach trouble and bloating, in which I could eut only sparingly of the simplest food, I am now feeling entirely well. the leading characters not only triumphs over the crooked schemers in winning the event but taking down a purse that saves the farm for Aunt Abigail and her deserving associates. It has been likened to a trip to the country on a sweet summer day and has taken the motion picture world by storm. MURRETTE. "Shore Acres" the immortal stage play of New England life that made James A. Herne famous the world over, -is the feature attraction at the Murrette theatre. This .unusual feature is a picturization of the celebrated stage drama which James A. Herne wrote, produced and starred in throughout the civilized world.-' It is a superb picture of rural life in . a sleepy New England village on the coast of Maine, and introduces Alice Lake as a star in her first starring vehicle. The management assures its patrons of unusual entertainment in this extraordinary feature which is a faithful picture of New England seacoast life, tense with stirring drama and tender pathos. MURRAY. Most actresses go on the stage or into motion pictures that they may advance the art by their presence. It is refreshing to learn that once in a while one launches into the screened or spoken drama to earn a living. Of that class is Seena Owen, the beautiful actress who enacts the leading feminine role in "The Cheater Reformed," a William Fox picture now showing at the Murray theatre, with handsome William Russell as the star. In a biography. Miss Owen answers the. question "How did you get into the pictures?" by saying: "Hard up, and that was the quickest way to get good pay." It is not to be supposed that Miss Owen merely went up to the casting director and announced her intention of going to work. Laird Heads Monroe Drive to Secure Corn for Europe ELDORADO, O., March 25. blacksmith and paint house; bolti house; two hump rest buildings fort switchman general yard master's of-1 ficc and two buildings housing the j electrically operated interlockers. To adequately protect these buildings from fire, there are standard fire alarm boxes, similar to the system used in Richmond, placed at intervals through the yard. , The only difference is that when an alarm is sent, a whistle blows the number of the box, instead of a bell ringing. Yardmen are trained for such an emergency and when a call is received make their way to the nearest hose house immediately. Two of the four hose houses have 1,000 feet of. hose, and-the other two have 500 feet each. Eleven water plugs in the yard are so situated that nearly any possible fire can be reached with the use of only 250 feet of hose. Another provision against loss of life or property is the electric lighting system for night use. In many parts of the yard, mounted upon buildings and poles are huge flood lights. These with the aid of dozens of smaller lights 60 illuminate the surrounding territory that lanterns are hardly need ed by workmen on the night shifts.
