Earlham Students Don Overalls Saturday to Rejuvenate Track

Every afternoon at 4 o'clock Reid Field becomes a scene of activity. The cause of the animation is the remodeling and improving of the athletic field laS carnea on oy ine sraaenis ana 'acuity of the , college. A stranger might get the impression that some kind of minature' warfare was being carried on, for the first sight of the workers shows them busily engaged in digging trenches and ditches with picks, shovels and spades or any other variety of instruments that can be secured. A closer inspection, however, reveals the fact that the excavations are merely drainage ditches about two feet deep, and that close by, are tile ready to form the new drainage system for the cinder track, Another drain is being installed in the middle of the football gridiron to carry off the surplus water. All measurement and calculations for the project are made by the mathamatics department of the college. . Many Costume Seen. The next thing to attract the observers' attention is the variety of costumes worn by the workers. Every known form of masculine garb from denim overalls to faded outing flannels are in sight. Old sweaters, relics of the high school days, flannel shirts, blue shjlrts, old army outfits are all in evidence. , Not' only is the student body well represented among the workers but also the faculty delegates are on the tieia or battle. Some of the "profs" appear as surveyors and overseers while others wield the pick and shovel with the undergraduate. - Blistered hands at the close of the afternoon give evidence of the exertion put forth. ..... . . .. ,, Piles of specially prepared cinders O'DOWD SEEKS SCALP OF WILSON TONIGHT (By Associated Press) NEW YORK, March 17.
