Sblveley. in an effort to prevent " the lioard creating a school district front Lewisburg village district and the major portion of Harrison township district. Flora and Biddinger alleged Lanier district had created a tax burden that it hoped to compel Gasper township to help shoulder. As tp the board's discretion in the matter. Judge Barnes says: "A court will never find that there has been an abuse of discretion from the mere fact lhat it might have acted differently
from the board of education, ine abuse must be so great as to shock the conscience of the court." It Is said no decision as to appeal or the cases has been reached. Silver Speaks Saturday. A REDUCTION TALK. Most. of,, the women who write to me and ask for directions on reduction, want to know some method that Is very short and easy. Now the shortness and easiness of any system of reduction depends on how much overweight a woman happens to be. A safe rate of reduction is about two pounds a week. If a woman weighs 100 pounds too much (and I am sorry to say that quite a few do), then the reduction process will take a year. But if a woman Is only 10 or, 15 pounds too heavy, it will not take very long to recover her youthful figure. Do you know which foods produce fat and which do not? Foods which do not produce fat are usually spoken of as those having a low caloric value. Among the meats, lean beef, chicken, lamb and mutton have a low caloric value. Most varieties of fish are allowed in any reduction diet the exceptions are salmon and sardines. Oysters and clams have practically no caloric value at all. Thin soups can go on any reduction menu, but thick soups should be eliminated. Most dairy products are fattening; therefore, cheese, butler and milk are rarely allowed, although butter-milk
J or skimmed milk is quite all right, and
eggs can be eaten when they are poached or boiled. Most deserts arc fattening because they contain starch or sugar in some form. Most vegetables are. allowed in every reduction diet. To name only a few, you can cat asparagus, beets, string beans, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, corn, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, parsnips, peas, radishes, spinach and all other greens, squash, tomatoes and turnips. Raw or stewed fruit is usually allowed, unless there is too much sweetening in the cooking. All bread and gluten bread is fattening and most sauces and other delicacies are forbidden. Vera There is no treatment that will make blunt fing?r tips taper, but you can secure a tapering effect by letting the nails grow a little long and keeping them filed to a pointed oval. All Inautrles addressed to Miss Farbes In care of the "Beauty Chats" department will be answered ir. these columns In their turn. This requires considerable time, however, owing to
the great number received. So. If a personal or quicker reply Is desired, a tamped and Belt-addressed envelope muttt be enclosed wUts the question.
Heart Problems
do not love the girls. It will be bet-1 ter to break the promise. Since you! do not care for the girls, 1 would ad-J vise you to confess about the girls in; the city, so that they can draw their j own conclusions and not be misled into thinking they only are sweet-' hearts and that you will marry them
in tne near future.
Dear Mrs. Thompson: We are two young men, twenty-two years of age, and we are engaged to two girls who have been going with us for almost two years. , We were working in coal mines, and
when they got to working badly we went to a city where we met two other young ladies. We were with them quite a few times, which wasn't treating the other ones right, we know, but we couldn't help it, for they seemed to treat us so nicely. When, we left the city they would not tell us good-bye, but said they would be true to us and wait until we got back. Wo had told them that we were goiug home on a visit. But we had quit our jobs for the sake of the other girls at home. When we got home the girls did not seem the same to us. They di'Jn't treat us as they had before, although they seemed glad to see us. So we are engaged to the ones at home and love the ones in the city better, which we didn't realize until we went home. W hate to break our engagements, for we know it will surely hurt the girls, for they have trusted in us for so long a time. Would it be right to marry the two at home and never tell them of the other girls? MIKE AND IKE. I would advise you to postpone marriage until you become more definite in the state of your affections. In truth, you do not know which girls you care more for, and until you care so much for one that you take no interest in another, I Would advise you not to marry. It is far better not to marry if you

Cope and VTilters were arrested by federal prohibition officers Wednesday Feb. 23, after Tom Taylor, of Pershing, had been placed under arrest the day before for liquor law violations. Taylor confessed and implicated Copt and Walters, who were then arrested and pleaded not guilty. . t Federal officers believe that with the conviction of the two Cambridge City men a "whisky ring." which has been carrying on extensive operations in the western part of Wayne county ana surrounding counties will' be broken up. Taylor, who pleaded guilty before Judge Bond last Saturday, had not boen sentenced Friday. Judgment in his case has been held up pending the trial of Cope and Walters. A recom-
