V ., V - - Mr. James H. Allen suffered for years with rheumatism. Many times this terrible disease left him helpless and unable to work. He finally decided, after years of ceaseless study, that no one can be free from rheumatism until the accumulated impurities, commonly called uric acid deposits, were dissolved In the joints and muscles and expelled from the body. 'With this idea in mind he consulted physicians, made experiments and finally compounded a prescription that quickly and completeIybanished every sign and symptom of rheumatism from his system. He freely gave his discovery to others who took it, with what might bo called marvelous success. After years of urging he decided to let sufferers everywhere know about his discovery through the newspapers. A. G. Luken & Company, Three Quigley Drug Stores and Yes and Now Drug Co. have been appointed agents for Allcnrhu in this viciinity with the understanding that they will freely return the purchase money on the first two bottles to all who state they reccivrd no benefit. RICHMOND PALLADIUM AND
ENGLISH PHONE RATE BONE OF CONTENTION; RAISE IS OPPOSED (By Associated Press LONDON. Feb. 17. While v New York and many other American cities are or have been scenes of hot argument over increases in street railway or subway fares, Great Britain has its bono of dispute in an increase of telephone rates. The business interests and general public have suffered an attack of what some call "telephonitis" as a result of an announcement by the Postmaster General, that he would increase the telephone charges on April 1 to present subscribers and immediately to new subscribers. Increase 147 Per Cent. These increases are based on a report of a select committee of the house of commons, and call for an annual rental of eight pounds, ten shillings, against the old charge of five pounds. The present fee of three pence (six cents) at a public call box will remain for short distances, but longer distances will be proportionately increased. These charges have to be made to meet an estimated charge of 10,000,000 for this year, or an increase of 147 per cent over pre-war rates. The volume of criticism which' the first official statement called forth, has since grown considerably and not only have resolutions of protest been sent to the government from every chamber of Commerce in the country, tut combined action is being taken by the various chambers, with a view to fome alleviation from what is called the "iniquitous" imposition of higher charges for a service which is admittedly inefficient. Some are even advocating a boycott. Certain Relief From Bronchial Asthma Simple Heme Treatment Makes Breathing . Easy Just because you start the day tired, lifeless, worn-out from loss of rest and the difficult breathing of miserable Asthma do not think you have to stay this way long. Be strong and well, breathe clearly and easily again by using this simple treatment known as Oxidaze, the prescription of a Worcester, Mass., physician. For any form of Asthma where the bronchial tubes are irritated, the ! breathing short and difficult, its heal ing, relieving action is really wonderful. Sufferers who can't breathe at night and who gasp for a good, clear breath will appreciate the relief and comfort Oxidaze gives. Oxidaze is a tableLjnade from essential oils which, when the patient dissolves in the mouth, almost immediately soothes the irritation, clears out the choked up air passages and enables the sufferer to breathe, easily and get a real comfortable night's sleep. It is sold by A. G. Luken & Co., and leading druggists who agree to refund the full purchase price of the first package to any sufferer who does not obtain satisfactory relief. Asthmatic sufferers should give Oxidaze a trial. It is harmless and inexpensive. Advertisement. tat conservative opinion inclines to the belief that this would seriously injure the service in future. Condemn Government Operation. A deputation, representing the press of the Empire, protested to the Postmaster General but received little encouragement. The postmaster pointed out that wages in the department have trebled and the cost of plant more than doubled. The expenditure of the departmnet in 1913-14 was 5,952.000 and in 1920-21 aggregated 14,600,000. It is claimed by the business community, that since the government took over the telephone service from the National -Telephone Company, hich paid a dividend of six per cent, the service has grown increasingly inefficient and expensive, and the strongest efforts are being made towards a postponement of the proposed Increases until tWe whole matter has been inquired into and debated in Parliament. The chief cause of contention is the abolition of the old flat rate of five younds yearly with unlimited calls and the imposition of a sliding scale of charges which will mean a heavy addition to the bills of commercial houses throughout the kingdom.
