WINGATE TRIUMPHS OVER HIGH QUINTET IN FAST CLEAN GAME Fighting desperately the Richmond high school basketball team fell before the rushing tactics of the champion Wingate high school basketball five on the Coliseum floor Saturday night by the score of 32-27. The game was said to be one of the fastesC and cleanest games played on the Coliseum floor this season. Time after time the performances of the teams brought the crowd to Its feet, by running up straight totals without interference from the opposing team. Unfortunate for Richmond, Wingate staged two of throe big sprees. Wingate Starts.

Wingate started the scoring when, C. Crane dropped one through from ' the center of the floor after two min

utes of play. The visitors staged the first rally and after 10 minutes of play the score was 7-2 in favor of Wingate. The teams scored alternately for the rest of the half. The half ended with the visitors on the long end of a 16-13 score. At the start of the second half Win

gs staged her second rally of the; game scoring five field goals and one; foul goal to the red and white one field ( goal putting the score at 27-15 and;

tilings cegan to iook as uiougn wey were going to turn the game into a one-sided affair. Local High Rallies.

When Coach Null's lads staged aj rally that came nearly being a game ; winning rally, getting five field goals' and one foul while the visitors scored but one field goal, bringing the score) up to 27 against Wingate's 29, but they ,

seemed to lack the punch to put over a victory. Just before this rally Pence was sent in for H. Cran. When Richmond came within two points of tying the score, the Wingate coach sent H. Crane back into the game and the visitors' defense tightened and held Richmond scoreless the rest of the game, while Webb added three more points to his teams total. Due to the fact that Loehr had a bad ankle, Coach Null sent Green up to center and Loehr back under the basket. Loehr put up a wonderful game under the basket breaking up play after play and it was largely due to his efforts that the Wingate score was not larger. Crane Is Star. C. Crane, the small floor guard of the visitors, showed unusualy ability covering the floor in fine fashion besides adding five goals from the center of the floor. Webb showed unusual ability at hitting the hoop and was the high point man of the evening scoring 18 of his team's 32 points. The line-ups and score are as follows! INDIANA UNIVERSITY BOXERS KEEP GOAGH WIGGAM VERY BUSY

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Feb. 14. Coach Howard Wiggam, who is the latest addition to Indiana's coaching staff,' is having soir.e real battles in the gymnasium daily. Boxing seems to be what the Indiana men have been waiting for because the gloves are in use almost all of the time and generally there is a waiting line. All kinds and methods of fistic ability are present from the crude, but sure-death, alley fighting to the semiskilled work of someone who has had previous training. Wiggam is often kept busy himself at times when he indulges in the sport to keep out of the reach of his long armed protegees. The latest innovation will probably be boxing and the art of self-defense for women, but that is yet to be announced. As yet there have been no real casualties but many near-knock-outs lend enthusiasm that rivals that of a professional bout.

NO EARLHAM TEAM IN ILLINOIS RELAY

Jackson, former Chicago White Sox outfielder, may have to pay upwards of ?1,200 income tax and penalty on the $5,000 he is said to have received during the world series of 1919, according to a statement today by James H. Price, a local attorney, who has beeu retained as counsel by Jackson. Efforts were started by treasury department officials to collect income tax on the $5,000 shortly after Jack

son was alleged to have made his con-j iession, Mr. Price said. Jackson failed '

to include the $3,000 in making out his income tax return, taking the view it was said, that it was received as a gift. Mr. Price, who will appear as associate counsel for Jackson in the

Coach Mowe ha? decided not. to send the proposed team to the Illinois Relay carnival whicn Is to be held at Evanston, an March 5, because of the

impossibility of setting a team shape under existing condit'ons.

Mowe had planned sending a mile relay team, Charles Ivy in the hurdles and Ray Johnson in the shot-put. A choice group of quarter niilers promised a winning quartet while Ivy and Johnson could be depended upon in the scramble for points. The men had started their program

of three days a week at the Richmond j Y. M. C. A. indoor track and hopes i were soaring high when' suddenly the I men began to complain of sore shins. Mowe immediately recognized the run

wishing to spoil the chances for a promising track season for the sake of one meet, he decided to withdraw the Earbam entries. Pre-season training is still in progress with the usual three nights a week cross-country run, under the direction of assistant coach, Higgins. Several new men who have entered the fxhool this semester have joined the barriers and are f-howing promise.
