"We got ya' agin' now and ya' ain't 'goin'.to git away neither," said one of them who seemed to be the leader. ' When Buck's horse had fallen, Buck lit on his face which scratch ed it ud and one of the outlaws laughed and said, "Say, look at that face would ya, ain't it purty?" . "You guys ain't got the sense of a dead skeeter," said Buck crossly. "Ho, bo, so we ain't, huh, well you never said anything about your self,' 'sneered one. "Well fellers, we might Jist as well git r)d of this feller right here as to take 'im back with us. Well jlst tie 'im to that track over there and go back," said the lead er. The outlaws got off of their homes and dragged Buck to the railroad track and laid him across it. Buck twisted and turned but it did no good. The outlaws tied him and got on 'heir horses and rode away, some yelled back, "I'm hopin' it don't rain while you're there." Buck was not able to move a muscle and he waited for the oncoming danger. But it was not to come for two men came from out of the bushes nearby and began to cut the ropes that tied Buck. . Buck looked up into the faces of two of the sheriff's deputies. Why, how did you git here! "On our horses," joked one. "How're ya gittln along back here with the Black Mask?" asked Buck. Tine so far, we got 'em all rounded up but it won't last long. Do Good
If you know someone that Is down and out, That no one seems to care about, With a broken heart and no one near A kind word from you will help to cheer. Life Is sweet when the world's all smiles, But with a broken heart life Is not worth while. Help the poor and needy, too; Showers of blessings will fall on you. If you have money, you have friends. They will help you to the bitter end. If you have no money, and nothing to pay, At every door you will be turned away. it may oe your neighbor you ean help; God says, "You must love them as yourself." A kind word and a smile in the saddest hour Is better than a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Do all the good you can Just as long as ever fovt can. Just as sure as God is true This beautiful world will smile on you. Betty Estelle, Junior High School. First, each one of us took a piece of paper 9 in. x 12 in., and we pasted the clippings on it. When we have a few more things about Central Europe, we will make a large folder; and we think it will be nice for the next grade. Stella Shores, Joseph Moore School. Gee, but he was a cute, fat, roly-poly cub when we got him, but he grew terribly fast and now is much bigger than my little sister, Dot. ' Saint is not fast enough to be a police dog, but he would make a good traffic cop. Dot started to school this year. Saint goes with her every morning, and each evening goes to bring her home. He is very careful when they cross streets. If Dot tries to go across when an automobile is coming, Saint holds her sleeve till it Is past. Then he pilots her safely over. One day they were hurrying across and Dot stumbled and fell. Just then a machine came around the corner right at them. Saint leaped in front. The driver stopped just in time to miss Dot. H. R.
