LEGION FIVE'S RALLY o FAILS TO OVERCOME DENVER CHAMP'S LEAD

Staging a rally In the last half that fell short a few points, the American Legion basketball team was defeated by the Denver Athletic club basketball team on the Coliseum floor Wednesdaynight by the score of 26-21. The ex-soldiers showed considerable Improvement in their style of play in the game Wednesday night. The weak points are beginning to show con siderable improvement, due to the careful coaching they received la3t week. Denver jumped into the lead after two mirutes of play when Doyle chalked one up from the foul line. Chappel save the locals a one point, lead with a field goal a few minutes later and Simmons made it two witfi a free throw, but Kane soon tied it up with a field goal: Murray added another a minute later and the visitors were never beaded from then on. First Half Slow.

The first half was rather slow, the

red and black could not get going to-! gether and the visitors scored almost j :it will. The red and black would work the ball down the floor time after time only to miss an easy shot or pass the j ball into one of the visitor's hand-. The passing of the ex-scldiers in the first half was below their usual standard. j In the second half O'Neal was sent in for Chappel and the fire-works started. Tho team played a wonderful brand of basket hail bringing the score up to 21-10. v".un O'Neal was injured during the ral'y and a time out was called. Winn play was started again the ex-io!ui'rs- punch seemed to be go'-o and t!.o visitors scored a foul and two liold goals giving them a comforlsli!i 1fad.

Bertsch was ejected from the game in the middle of the second half for committing four personal fouls, ana Parker was sent in for him. Parker is an old timer at. the game and showed up exceptionally well, breaking up play after play and picking the ball off the back board in fine style. Bertsch played his usual steady game but seemed inclined to be a bit rough last night. Simmons, the lanky pivot man for the red and black, was the scorer ot , the evening, making 10 points and playing a good floor game. The locals all played a good floor game but the offence was poor, the men missing many shots under the basket. Dayton Man Plays. Denver's team was not composed entirely of men from that city, Sackstader, the back guard, being from Dayton. Murray, the pivot man for the visitors, led his team in scoring with four goals from the field. Sackstader was easily the star of the game breaking up play after play of the ex-soldiers and working the floor in wonderful style. His taking the ball off the back board and working it away from the basket was noteworthy, also scoring two baskets from the center of the floor. The visitors played the last ' minute with only four men when Sackstader was taken from the game for committing four personal fouls. They onlv bad five men with them. The lineups Hnd score are as follows. Richmond (21) Denver (26) Porter F Doyle Chappel F Kane Simmons C Murray McBride G Kniley jn Bertsch G Sackstader KJ Substitutions O'Neal for Chappel, Parker for Bertsch, Chappel for Porter. The war on film Dental science, the world over, i3 fighting a war on film. Film is that viscous coat you feel. It clings to teeth, enters crevices and stays. It is the film-coat that discolors, not the teeth. Film is the basis of tartar. It holds food substnnce which ferments and forms acid. It holds the acid in contact with the teeth to cause decay. Millions of germs breed in it. They, with tartar, are the chief cause of pyorrhea. And, despite all brushing, few escape these troubles caused by film.

New vays to fight it . Now dental science has found ways to fight film, day by day. Able authorities have proved the methods efficient. Leading dentists everywhere now urge their application. The methods are combined in a dentifrice called Pepsodent. To millions it has brought a new era in teeth cleaning. And to every horrfe a ten-day test is offered free, so all may quickly know it. Quick, visible results Anyone can see and feel what Pepsodent is doing. No old method of brushing ever brought such effects. So we let this test convince you. One ingredient is pepsin. Another multiplies the starch digestant in the saliva, to digest starch deposits that cling. The alkalinity of the saliva is multiplied also, and at once. That is to neutralize mouth acids which cause tooth decay. Two factors directly attack the film. One of them keeps teeth so highly polished that film cannot easily adhere. The effects of Pepsodent come with every application. We constantly combat, in efficient ways, the teeth's great enemies. And millions of teeth are given new protection and new beauty.

Millions now show the effects In every circle nowadays you see glistening teeth. Ask the owners. You will find, we think, that they are using Pepsodent. Go get this free tube and try it for yourself. Note how clean the teeth feel after using. Mark the absence of the viscous film. See how teeth whiten as the film-coats disappear. Then let the children use it. Their teeth need it most. Very few children reach the age of 15 without some tooth decay. Let the man who smokes see how it takes the stained film from his teeth. Let all find out how much cleaner teeth feel, how much safer, when brushed in this new way. Then this ten-day test may bring to your homo some lifetime effects.
