A CLEAR COMPLEX ON

The Theatres WASHINGTON. Enid Bennett, whose gowns are always chosen witn rare discrimination, wears a number of interesting and distinctive costumes in "Silk Hosiery," her latest Paramount picture, which is featured at the Washington theatre Monday. In the first part of the picture, she is a veritable Lady of Gold, from the top of golden -curls to the tip of her golden slippers. There is a sheath of golden tissue, very straight and slim, and a flowing drapery of long, winglike sleeves of brown chiffon, bordered with gold. The neck is outlined with a narrow band of brown fur, and the whole is a lovely golden dream. In subsequent scenes she wears a charming pink brocade and lace creation, made on youthful bouffant lines. Pale pink is one of Miss Bennett's favorite colors, because "it always seems to mean happiness." With this costume she wears an attractive pink hat, an elusive thing of tulle, with bands of silk rosebuds. And last, but not least, is the beruffled blue parasol, which gives the needed accent to the whole costume. , "Silk Hosiery" provides a feast for the eye, and will thrill the feminine hearts with its flutter of laces and feathers. MURRETTE. "The Truth About Husbands," which opened its engagement at the Murrette theatre yesterday, is a film version of the famous stage play, "The Profligate," by Sir Arthur Wing Pineri, whose brilliant dramas have held the boards for several past decades. It is a Whitman Bennett production, released through the Associated First N'ational Pictures, Inc., and directed by Kenneth Webb. The cast is particularly worthy of special mention. The following roles were especially well handled: Janet Preece by Anna Lehr, Duns tan Renshaw by Holmes E. Herbert, Mrs. Stonehay by Elizabeth Garrison, Leslie Brownell by May McAvoy, Hugh Murray by Richard Gordon, Lord Randolph by Ivo Dawson, Wilfred Brownell by Arthur Rankin and Irene Stonehay by Lorraine Frost.
