PREBLE CHURCH HEADS WILL ATTEND MEETING AT EATON SUNDAY

EATON, O., Jan. 15. Members of the Preble County Sunday School association will gather here Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church for the association's midwinter meeting. An important feature of the meeting will be submission, of a proposal to establish in Preble county expert and systematic supervision of religious Instruction. A committee has teen investigating the possibilities the last several weeks and it is expected some action will be taken in the matter in the meeting tomorrow. State Secretary Arnold, of the state Sunday School association, will be a prominent figure in the meeting. He officiated as secretary of the World Sunday school meeting In Tokio, Japan, and it is expected he will present an illustrated lecture on his trip to Japan at the evening session. To Establish Power Line. David Wolford has obtained from the county commissioners a grant to establish and maintain an electrical transmission line in Monroe township, to provide light, power, etc., for persons living along the route. The line will begin at the home of William Lee, corner of the Central road, and "extend southeast along the Stephens road for a distance of about one-third of a mile. Rural Life Conference. Preble county's second annual rural life conference opened here Friday evening in the courthouse auditorium, with Hoy C. Rogers, community service league, Lexington, Ky., as the principal speaker. Social, v home and Ftmilar community problems were dealt with by Mr. Rogers. The conference continued over today, with a morniog and afternoon session. The Rev. A. W. Hirby, of Concord, and Mrs, R. J. Scheid, of Eaton, in last evening's session were leaders in a discussion of advantages afforded by community welfare conferences. Good forms of recreation, place and equipment for recreation, etc., were dealt with in a round table discussion. Mrs. C. A. Burns and Mrs. H. L. Risinger contributed a musical program. Dr. H. Riley Spitler, of Eaton, presided as chairman. Dr. A. W. Freeman, 6tate commissioner of health, addressed the conference this morning, speaking on health problems. Dr. H. Z. Silver, of Eaton, and Miss Mary Ewalt, of West Alexandria, county health nurse, led a discussion of the subject of "Health." J. O. Dooliltle. head of the rural division of the State Sunday School f-Fsociation, spoke this afternoon. The program dealt with community religious activities, the Rev. Charles Irwin. ff Eaton, and Mrs. W. B. Cline, of Camden, leading a discussion of appropriate subjects. H. C. Mitchell, of Eaton, presided as chairman at the morning session, and E. C. Eikenberry of Camden, was chairman at the closing session this afternoon. Road to Be Opened. Favorable action has been taken by the county commissioners, after some delay, upon a petition seeking opening of the S. H. Goble road in Jefferson township, in section 16. In awarding of damages resulting from opening of the road, the estate of the late Susan E. J. McKee was given ?202 damages. Arranging Jackson Day. As yet, date for the annual Jackson day banquet, to be staged here by the Democracy of Preble county, has not been fixed, although the county ban

quet committee reorganized several j days ago and the usual committees to look after details of the dinner were named. The speakers committee has, been casting about for speakers, buti thus far no one has been definitely secured, members of the committee! state. After hearing the divorce suit of Irma Bianhiser, of Lewisburg, against I Armand Barnhiser Friday in common! pleas court, the judge announced that j he would neither grant nor refuse a I decree at this time. i He advised the couple to patch up their differences and try living toseth-, er again.
