GAME ON WEDNESDAY American Legion basketball men have promised local fans another treat in Independent basketball when they take on the fast Scottsburg Commercials on the Coliseum floor Wednesday night. Advance .dope on this contest indicate that it will be one of the fastest games seen here this season. The Commercials are coming here with a string of victories that would averawe any team, but the Legion has Its mind set on snatching these honors for .its own belt. The Scottsburg team Is said to be composed of college players who have formed the team for the purpose of making a fight for state inrinnAnri Ant honors. Thus far. with
their defeats of Shelbyville Legion, j
louisviue uaaexs ana me jj-uiwiub, of Indianapolis, they appear to have a running start towards a great record. Use Strong Lineup. Thex4egion will put its strongest lineup on the floor to meet this formidable aggregation. Porter and O'Neal will be found at forwards to lead the local offense. Simmons will bold down the pivot job and if he plays the same kind of a game that he exhibited against the Merchants team of Indianapolis, he probably will be the star of the contest. McBride and Bertsch are slated
to take care of the Scottsburg scorers. They have been able to make a good Khnwlnc in this deoartment thus far
and with the hard workouts that they (
have been putting in. should De aDie to hold Scottsburg's offense. Considerable interest is being shown in the curtain raiser between Hagerstown and Whitewater high schools. Both of these schools have one of the best teams in their history and the rivalry between the two is exceptionally keen. Hagerstown has chalked up one win over the Whitewater lads, which has been the latter's only defeat. Both i schools are bringing a large delegation to root for their respective teams.

This, of course, was the big surprise of thb evening. The Kentuckys held true to form snd, grabbed the odd game from the Hoosiers. This enabled them to hold down second place. Third place was granted to the Light Drafts because of their attack on the maples which was considerably more effective than the Easy Pulls. The Drafts garnered three games in a row. None of the games were especially sood. High game was only 824; high man was Billy Sample with 203. He was also high average with 179.

NULL FIXES QUINTET IN FINAL COMBINATION
The local high school squad is being pushed for the coming game with Connersvyie on the Coliseum floor, Friday night. Coach Null put the red and white through a stiff practice Monday night in the high school gym and the same work is on the program for the rest of the week and the team is fast rounding into mid-season form. The coach is working hard on the team's offensive play which seems to be the weakest point and it is gradually rounding into shape. By the end of the weeks practice it is expected to be working in great style. It has been hard for the coach to get his team lined up due to the fact that the men have been irregular in their studies. Null has a team now composed of good students as well as basketball players and it Is doubtful If the aggregatiqn will be broken up. Connersville has been a great rival of the local school and the game promises to be a fight to the finish. The outcome is attracting much interest from the high school followers. Amick may ' be eligible this week but it is doubtful if Coach Null will break up his present combination. The coach probably will line the men up for the Connersville game as follows: Lohman and Harkins, forwards; Loehr, center; Rost and Green, guards.
Grand Circuit Stewards Hold Annual Meeting PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 11. Horsemen gathered here for the annual convention of Grand Circuit stewards discussed topics of general interest to iight harness racing at this morning's session and listened to reports of committees which met yesterday. An executive session of the stewards was scheduled for this afternoon at which dates for this season's racing were to be allotted, and officers of the organization elected. While no announcement of either will be made until the banquet and entertainment with which the convention will be concluded tonight, it was said that it was unlikely that there would Je lany change in the officers and that in all probability the racing dates would follow closely those in effect last year.
