BRITISH TRADE WITH RUSSIA DEMORALIZING, STATES AUTHORITY

(By Associated Press) IjONDON. Jan. 7. Professor Paul Milukoff, Russian foreign minister under Kerensky, and considered the leading Russian antf-Bolshevik authority in England, is quoted here as saying:

"There is nothing to be ohtainea irom ; Russia except flax and timber and that has been sold several ttmes over. I cannot imagine that established British firms will consider this a solid basis for trading with a bankrupt country." Agreeing with American State department officials at Washington, Milukoff expressed his opinion to the London Olobe that the proposed British trade agreement wwith Russia is "to all intents and purposes, recognition of the Bolshevikl who have never been elected by any vote of the people." "Trade with the Bolshevik! will only Intensify the danger of Bolshevik doctrines spreading in England," said Mllukoff. "With trade will come, first, 'agents then 'consuls, all trained propagandists whose real work it would be to hasten social revolution." Nothing to Offer. Mllukoff states that Russia has nothing to offer in exchange for goods. He says that Lenine himself emphasizes that the remaining gold reserve is negligible and would certainly be exhausted within a month or two. "There is one thing that Lenine and Trotzky cannot stop without admitting the awful disaster they have brought upon my unhappy country that is. the preaching of world revolution. Everything is subordinated to that end," concluded Professor Mllukoff

MURRETTE Joseph J, Dowling. veteran character actor of the screen, whose por

trayal of the Patriarch in "The Miracle Man" is considered to be one of the finest examples of acting for the silver sheet, plays a prominent part in Dustin Farnum's first production for Robertson-Cole, "Big Happiness," a super-special adapted from the novel of the same name by the famous English novelist "Pan." The picture opens at the Murrette Theatre for a run of two days beginning Friday. Mr. Dowling is an heir to the land of make-believe, both- his grand-parents and his parents having won renown on the legitimate stage. His mother was known on- the stage as Fredrica Edstrom. .In "Big Happiness," Mr. Dowling is cast as a titled Englishman who has a penchant for gambling on the stock market, and he portrays the role with all the finesse and artistry at his command. MURRAY Perhaps the most stirring fight scene portrayed in motion pictures takes place in "Li Ting Lang," the Haworth production, released by Robertson-Cole, which opened at the Murray Theatre, Thursday for a run of three days, with Sessue Hayakawa, the noted dramatic actor In the title role. Surrounded by enemies who Beek the life of the white girl in his custody, Hayakawa, who takes the part of a Chinese prince, of the modern democratic school, battles against superior numbers until the arrival of a detachmrtit of American blue-jackets puts an end to the unequal contest. The "battle royal" takes place in a

picturesque Chinese tower. The fight is the climax of one of the most animated dramas in which Mr. Hayakawa has appeared in months. It Is full of life, action and color and holds the Interest from beginning to end. The star is given ample support by Daris Pawn, the beautiful and accomplished actress who played opposite Lew Cody In "The Beloved Cheater." Mare Robbins, who gives a fine performance as a Chinese prince, Allan Forrest, Charles E. .Mason, and Frances Raymond, whose portrayals of society dowagers are famous. Charles Swickard directed this fascinating romance of collegiate Amer

ica and the turbulent Orient. His handicraft Is seen In every one of the many handsome sets. x'- , . WASHINGTON. The old wheeze, "when the worm turns," seems to be about the best,

brief description of the big idea in the excruciatingly funny story told in Le-

uomte ana nsner s musical comeay high-spot, "My Sunshine Lady," at the Washington Sunday afternoon and evening, that the writer can suggest The "worm" in this case is a delic-

iously demure, dainty little fishermaiden whose feminine instincts, dis

closing her lover's plot to test her love for him, enables her to outwit the conspirators and counter-plot with exceeding embarrassment to all concerned but herself. Of course, in the end, the lovers are happy, but. the little lady has heaps and heaps of fun before she relented and agreed to an

armistic.

This is said to be one of the most novel themes yet -employed in this type of play and lends a delightfully refreshing spirit to the usual hackneyed, musical-comedy plots of the last decade. A strong company of musical comedy experts supported by a host of exceptionally beautiful girls will be seen here and the real treat of the season's musical offerings seems likely to result. Among them are Gad run Walberg,, Lcona Stater, Allan Carter, Bessie Delmore, and Gilbert Tossick.

You Will Like Our Store

You'll like it because it brings you every advantage in buying clothing that a large organization can offer. We operate a large chain of stores, with central buying offices in New York City. Right there, in the style center of America, all our merchandise is bought and shipped to our stores as fast as it is needed almost daily, in fact. Buying in large quantities for all our stores enables us to buy at very low prices. The resultant savings are passed on to our customers in lower prices. We have never offered anything but quality merchandise at reasonable prices because we have endeavored to build up a large and permanent business. The size of our business today, and the good will of our thousands of customers, shows how well we have kept to this policy. Our Divided-Payment-Charge-Account Plan is another reason why you will like our store. It offers you satisfaction and convenience which will only be fuly appreciated after you have used it. It is just like opening a bank account and depositing fixed amounts regularly. Instead of saving for clothing, you come to our store and select what you need, arranging to divide the bill into several amounts. There is nothing new about this plan. Government bonds and homes are bought in the same way. However, there IS a difference between our plan and what the usual store offers. We offer you the privilege of a charge account as an additional feature.of our service and it does NOT cost you extra. Right now is a good time to start an account.

The entrancing musical score is responsible for such reigning favorites as "My Sunshine Lady," a veritable gem; "I Miss You Honey, Deed I Do." another. "Cupid's Sweets." alluringly swingy; ?A Night at the Riviera," positively, haunting; " "The Songs I Sang When I Was TwentyOne," a pot-pourri of delicious melodies; "A Song of Old Brittany," quaint, ly lrrisistible; "What's the TJso of Levin'," a humoresque; "The Vampire Girl," one of the whistling kind; and "Love Needs Opposition," a lilting, melody. . MURRAY VAUDEVILLE Lottie Mayer has returned. . , She and her group of diving nymphs are appearing in the last act at the MUrray theatre the last half of thi3

week. A feature of the act is the un

usual attractiveness of the pure rubber bathing suits,- capes and hats. The

most striking suit of all is the "Houla Houla" model in black and white

rubber with a cape and picture hat to

match, -worn by Miss Mayer. The

suits are in Persian, green, a beautiful shade of blue and most every other

color which admirably suit the beach vamps and takes one back to the good old summer time. We are told that in the bloomers of each suit is concealed the daintiest of pockets In which can be carried a vanity case. A number of aqtiatic "stunts" are performed by the diving '-beauties." A troupe of trained fox terriers in the act, "Max York's Pupils," furnish an amusing and entertaining offering. With intelligence unexpected from mere terriers, the dogs do many jumping tricks. One of the best is that of leap-frog. The dog in this trick follows York's examDle in jumping over

throe other dogs. It is an unusual1 dog act. Fun is introduced by Francis and Demar. This act proves the fact that a red headed woman and a peanut

vender mix just like 611 and water at the start. Later they become very good pals, even going so far as touching "bills." Demar can. play a piano with finish, and we believe more num

bers, even at the cost of a little j ''horse-play" would strengthen the vehicle. Whimsically quiet, all except the big banjo which she makes roar or sink into quietude, at will, Nina Esphy presents an offering worth while. Always with a pleasant smile which wins half the battle, she plays piece after piece of well known numbers. It Is somewhat awe-inspiring to see a mere slip or a girl handle the long finger board of the big instrument. We liked her, and her playing, at once. Sessue Hayakawa. the Japanese

actor, stars in the feature film "Li Ting Lang." Marv.
