THEATRES

(Continued from Page Eight) r-layed second at the Murray theater, Thursday afternoon', did not prevent the success of the offering. Humor, a commodity oi the negro porter, acting as interlocutor between a pretty young lady and an "unbalanced" young masher, relieved the dullness of the skit. Singing -numbers were good Special scenery added much to the whole. Four men comprising the "Bottomley" troupe, present a daring act. Casting men into the air from a precarious

I heights; turning and twisting, and then catching them again in another

position, seems but a common place act to the aerialists. Mean-while the audience visibly sits In a strain expecting at each moment to witness a tiisasterous mistake. The clown of the troupe easily holds the major portion of the attention, principally because of his acrobatic feats. His comedy, however, pulls some laughs. Lillian Devere, billed aa the "Little Girl With the Eig Voice," not only proves it a fact, but also satisfies her listeners, that her voice has quality. Holding the stage alone, she renders "When I've' Said Goodbye to You," and "It's All Happiness When the Girl Says Yes." She is also a good entertainer when it comes to harmless little jokes. One thing good about Lillian, she doesn't have over two or three stale jokes in her kit. Those about the stork, "Lill," are sure humdingers. Begging everybody's pardon, I want

to go on recerd as saying "Those colored boys In the first act, know their stuff." Now honest, has there been a better musical feature lately? The waf that piano ivory was tickled, together with the tragedy-rag vibration

of the rlolin, sct3 the crowd to keep ing time. That it Was appreciate, cannot be denied, for several encon. numbers were supplied before Uw counle could rest in Deace. Our hfro

are off to you, "Jordan and' Tyler."
