WASHINGTON 1 Audiences who have been impressed " by the aristocratic bearing of the titled characters in the dinner party . .cene in Sir James M. Barrie's "Half ; n Hour," the Paramount photoplay in ', 'which Dorothy Dalton is appearing ! Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wash- ' lington theater, will doubtless be inter- ! jested to learn that the persons who .played these parts were no regular ' motion picture actors but actually had ! ,'Jtiigh sounding titles of their own. ; ;They all happened to be friends of ; -JDirector Harley Knoles, who is himself an Englishman, and, when he told ; them he was eager to get an aristocratic setting for Barrie's masterpiece, j they consented to go into the picture ; s a lark. ' The Marchioness delle Chiuse, a . member of an old New York family, .' 'jKho has lived in; Italy many years, ienjoyed her experience so much that ' she Is now preparing to seek the road ; to stardom. A member of an old Na- ! "poleon family, the Countess de Oas- : telvecchio, who has had wide experience on the staeg and is known to the public as Elouina Oldcastle, but : who has been absent a number of

' years, comes back in "Half an Hour". ; Frank Arundel, from the famous ; old Norfolk family in England, who ; nerved in the English artillery with t'jthe rank of major for the last five ; -years, was the only- gentleman of English aristocrasy present. He was in the original "Milestone"-company brought to America from London. MURRETTE, Marjorie Daw, the pretty iittle motion picture actress, who is seen in a i Reading part in "Dinty" at the Muri rette Theatre, declares she went ! through the most squeamish experience of her career during the making of that film. She plays the part of Ruth Whitely, daughter of Judge Whitely. who has incurred the deadly enmity of : "King" Dorkh, Malay half-breed and ) leader of a gang of highbinders. Dorkh ! fcidnaps the judge's daughter and , plans a terrible revenge for the sentence of his ton. Ruth is strapped to I a table under a swinging pendulum with a razor edge. The fiendish eon'trivance drops just an inch every time it swings, coming nearer and nearer Ihe strapped victim. "Dinty" O'Sullivan, a newsboy, and his Chinese friends, however, bring about a rescue in the nick of time and Ruth is restored to her father and fiance. "Acting that scene was the most nerve-racking experience I have ever had," said Marjorie. "Of course, I ! knew that everything would come out : all right, but just the same I had cold ; chills looking at that swinging penLOGICAL ADVICE!

dulum. I believe I went through all, the sensations of a drowning person, because it seems as though I thought of everything I had ever done in my whole life. The scene was terribly realistic and I never felt more relieved than I did when it was all over." MURRAY Shirley Mason is surely a winsome figure In her Fox production, "Girl of My Heart," which had its first local showing at the Murray treatre Thursday night before a large and appreciative audience. Miss Mason is charming as Joan a child who as a foundling was placed in an orphanage, and later adopted

from there by a cruel guardian, unable to stand further abuse Joan runs away,, and happens into the southern homo of Rodney White, a young musician who, in despair over ill-health, is about to kill himself. How the little

runaway girl brings sunshine into the life of the young man who adopts her as a sister against the wishes, of his

puritanical aunt, forms the basis of a delightful romance. Throughoutp the picture comedy is mingled with strongly dramatic incidents. It offers first-class entertainment by a star whose personality is ever welcome on the screen. MURRAY VAUDEVILLE LeRoy and Mabel Hartt in their clever skit "A Song Romance" will headline the new bill opening Monday matinee at the Murray. These artists have exceptional voices, and their vehicle affords them aple opportunity to exploit same, and at the same time allows them to introduce several entertaining comedy bits. Other acts underlined are Moher and Eldridge, two comedians in their laughable act "I Don't Care;" Watts apd Ringold, a colored comedian and , his partner in "The Blushing Bride and Groom," and Jessie Keller, a comedy Miss who rides a bicycle and who terms herself "Venus On Wheels." Gladys Walton will be seen on the

screen in "Pink Tights," a story of the circus with red lemonade, animals,

clowns, romance n'evrything. .

: The Beatrice Morrell Girl Sextette will headline the bill opening Thursday for the last half. These six talented young ladies will offer a melange of musical and vocal selections

comprising the popular and the classical which at once establishes them as "a hit." They carry an elaborate stage setting, and their act is greatly enhanced by the lavishness of their gowns. This act no doubt will prove one of the most refined" and meritorious girl acts seen here for sometime.

Barber and Jaekson, two young men fresh from their laughing triumphs in the larger city houses, will supply the comedy portion of the bill with their act "Mirth and Melody." These boys have material, ability and all that goes with the making of a genuine high
