(Br AmorltUd Preu) INDIANAPOLIS. Ind., Dec. 23 Window delivery or the 1921 automobile v license plates was started ' today at the statehoose, but 12.000 irorth, ' ready for . shipment . throughout the state, were withheld irom the mails until next Sunday because of the rush of Christmas packages. H. D. Mc-Clel-land, in charge of tho license bureau

of the secretary of state's office, expected the total number of licenses to be issued for next year would reach

365,000, an Increase of more than 30,-

000 over 1920.

Governor-elect Warren T, McCray will receive license plate No. X, while

Governor James P. Goodrich gets No.

-v 100. Bert Boyd, of this city, has re

served No. 13. while Kin Hubbard, cre

ator of Abe Martin, lands No. 6. AH

of the first ten licenses, except that of the governor-elect and No. 5, that goes to Calvin Rteman, of Fort Wayne, go

to Indianapolis residents.

AH of the licenses will not reach the automobile owners by January 1. the date on which the law Imposes the obligation of having new, license

plates. However, the police generally overlook January violations of the

law, permitting the auto-owners to op

erate on the old year plates. Smaller Increase Expected.

Based on advices from automobile

dealer. Mr. McClelland says he does

not expect the increase in the number of cars in Indiana this -year to keep

Dace with that of the last few years,

when the annual average has been S0.000. For 1920, automobiles as shown

by the license plates numbered 300,-

225 passenger cars and 3Z.350 trucks

in Indiana.

Since the new auto license law be-

N came effective in Indiana in 1913, the

Pf increase of total number of automobiles as shown by the license bureau

follows:

Nineteen hundred nnd thirteen, 44,73S; 1914, 66,410; 1915, 96,615; 1916.

139.615; 1917, 192,195; 1918. 227,160;

1919. 277.255; 1920, 332,575.

Touching Scenes Seen at Unknown Hero's Tomb (Br Auocaud Prm) LONDON, Dee. 23. Score of touching Instances have been witnessed at the tomb of Britain's "Unknown Warrior" in Westminster Abbey as long

lines of men, women and children

have passed the black marble slab1 covering the grave, for several days since the burial there of the unidentified soldier. The fact that no one knows the name of the man who lies beneath the slab leads many to offer tributes In the houe perhaps that the body is that of a missing son. The mother of one of the thousands of unknown warriors any one of whom might be reposing in Westminster Abbey, laid three war medals, -the Mons Star the Victory Medal and the British War Medal on the grave as she passed In the line. They had been awarded to her only son who was wounded three times and afterwards reported missing. A soldier's modest offering of flowers bore the inscription: "In loving memory of my two pals and all the other pals." The epitaph placed on the slab

reads: "For King and Country Greater Love Hath No Man Than

This."

Ohio Vets May Request

Amendment to Aid Boms (By Associated Prss.) COLUMBUS, O., Dec. 23. Ohio world war veterans may ask the incoming general assembly to submit a constitutional ammendment to the people making it possible to grant "additional compensation" to each Ohio veteran, according to officials of former service men's organizations here.

Columbus ex-service men have o.k'd. the proposal, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, at a meeting here, also urged such action. . v The proposed plan is to provide a sum large enough to grant every exservice man at least $10 a month for each month of service np to 25 months. This would require at least, ft 4 estimated, between $20,000,000 and $25,000,000. With Article 1, Section 8 of the Ohio constitution prohibiting the state from contracting debts in excess of $750.000. the veterans will ask the legislature, according to plans now. to submit an amendment to the voters allowing the state to contract a larger Indebtedness. ,' The amount necessary is proposed to be raised by the issuance of bonds.

' The veterans declare Ohio Is only . one of seven states that have not granted ex-service men a cash bonus, I land, vocational . education or free I scholarships. . . ! Veterans opposed to the stae com-j pensation plan argue that if Ohio j

granted a bonus, agitation for federal compensation will be struck a death blow. The . majority . hold, however, that regardless of the outcome in this state, the campaign for a federal bonus will continue.

MURRETTE.

Wesley Barry's debut on tho screen as a star in "Dinty." which opened an engagement at the Murrette Theatre last night. 1$ the crowning achievement of the freckle-faced youngster's meteoric carer and a triumph for that wizard of the silent drama, Marshall Nellan, who created and produced, this remarkable photoplay. As "Dinty"' O'Sullivan, a lighting San Francisco newsboy, young Barry, under the masterful direction of Nellan, has completely captivated his audiences. In his own Inimitable way he brings out the tears and laughs at -will. There is a touch of tender, rathos in Neilan's fascinating story when Dinty loses his old Irish mother, but for the most part it is brimming over with humor, a pretty romance and thrilling adventure constituting the backbone of the plot. How Dinty becomes king of the Newsboys' Trust, works his way into the good graces of the assistant district attorney, aids in the recovery of his fiancee who has been kidnapped
