the preceding years, whe-n the acreage was at an abnormally high figure on account of the world war. In some of the southern counties a slight increase

lis manifested, but the acreage in these counties is hardly up to normal because of the extraordinary reductions last year, when farmers were unable to plant because of weather conditions. In the middle section of the state the acreage seems to be slightly below the pre-war average and Is due principally to weather conditions at the time for seeding, although in practically all sections the unsettled market conditions, poor crop the past season and the labor situation influenced farmers in planning their acreage. The total estimated acreage sown this fall for the state is 1,953.000 acres.- Last year it was 2.240.000 acres and for 1918 it was 2,856.000 acres, a decrease for the two years of 903.000 acres from the record acreage i CITY ADVERTISEMENT DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS Office of the Board Richmond.
