MILTON, Ind. The Missionary society of the Methodist church met Friday afternoon with Mrs. Edgar Denny. Mrs. Vene Beeson was assistant hostess. Mrs. Henry McMahan was leader. GREENVILLE POLICE SEEK CHECK FORGER
GREENVILLE, O., Dec, 15. Police have no clue of a stranger who attempted to pass a fraudulent check for $75 at the Economy store. When a clerk informed him that she would have to have the check cashed before she could return him his change on a purchase of a $5 doll, the stranger became alarmed and fled. The check
was drawn on the Greenville National ; bank and was signed by Ralph Hunt, j When inquiry was made, it was found;
that Mr. Hunt had not written the clrack. It is believed that the stranger escaped in an automobile. A good description of the man was given to the police. He was tall and wore overalls. Studebaker Farm Sold. The old Studabaker farm south of town was sold at public auction by ; Sheriff Browne on the courthouse steps Saturday afternoon, and purchased by O. R. Krickenberger for the ' sum of $39,500. This farm consisting of 255 acres was appraised at $45,000. It was owned jointly by Messrs. O. R. Krickenberger, John F. Maher, Edwin C. Wright and George F. Crawford. It was sold on a partition suit brought in common pleas court by O. R. Krickenberger. Mrs. Ireland Dead. Mrs. Josephine Ireland, wife of Walter Ireland, is dead of Blight's disease, from which she had been a sufferer for 18 years. The deceased, who ' was aged 55 years old, with her husband moved to this city from Cincinnati last May. She was the mother of Mrs. Daniels of the firm of Wieland Sr. Daniels, jewelers. Besides the husband, she is survived by two daughters.

Members of the Odd Fellow's lodge will give a party and supper at the town hall, Dec. 18. MILTON, Ind.
