Chicago Sees Thousands Of Cars Parked Daily (By Associated Press) CHICAGO, . 111., Dec. 6. More than 5,000 automobiles are parked dally in the municipal parking reserve in Gram park during the summer months, according to an estimate of Chicago po licemen stationed there. Three hundred and sixty acres of land have been leveled off along the Illinois Central Railroad company's right of way, and devoted entirely to the storage of automobiles during business hours. The daily parking of this huge fleet of machines partially solves the traffic problem in the adjacent downtown district. During the winter months the daily percentage of automobiles' in the "reserve" dwindles down to the 1,500 mark, according to the Grant park police officials, but there is not an hour of the 24 when there are not at least 500 cars parked there. It was proposed recently to build an enormous underground garage, but this plan is rapidly losing favor due to the huge' sum of money necessary for its construction. At the present time 10,000 automobiles can be conveniently placed in the park.
LITTLE THINGS ARE STRONG POINTS FOR LEXINGTON RECORD It Is the "little things" that count on j any car. Lexington builders have kept this Tact in mind in the design of thOj Lexington Minute Man Six. Self oiling bushings, eliminating every grease cup on the car, with one exception, ' vacuum controlled headlights, serving "to insure the maximum of safety on the open road at night, without danger of blinding drivers of approaching cars, a cable (foot) brake that guarantees skidlss operation, all these are things that the average motorist seldom takes into consideration until af ter he buys tho car and begins to feel the need for their use. And as for. endurance: The recently
established record of the Islington Minute Man Six, a stock chassis which
climbed Pike's Peak in a blinding
tnowstorm, sbould.be ample proof of endurance. The record the Lexington established that day is merely typical of what Lexingtons are doing in a less spectacular way the country over.

Indiana Housing Shortage Disappearing, Say Officials Of Stele Auditors Office (By Associated Press) INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. C Shortage of housing facilities in Indiana is being met in part by the building and loan associations scattered throughout the state, according to officials of the state auditor's office having supervision over the auditor's office. In the last calendar year 2,214 homes have been built by the associations, 3,798 houses have undergone improvements, and 9,040 other homes have been sold on payments, says a report issued by the Building and Loan division of the auditor's office. The associations, according to the officials, are having an unprecedent growth jand development, their total assets in the state now amounting to $94,250,000, an increase of $14,000,000 in a year. More than 200,000 Indiana people are members of the associations, 74,062 being classified as borrowing members and 136,639 as investing members. The mortgage loans held by associations amount to $80,000,000. "The great function of the building and loan associations." says the report, "is to provide homes for the masses of laboring people and to give them the opportunity to pay for these homes with their daily or weekly savings. As
the economic conditions in the country :
improve the associations will fulfill their functions in a larger measure and in a more efficient manner. "Never before in the history of the associations has their been so great demand for their services. The United States is short a million homes, and l he associations everywhere are entering upon a career of usefulness to their communities that ultimately must make them indispensable factors in the civic improvement of the country."
