NEW NATIONAL GUARD IN STATE WILL HAVE UNITS IN MANY CITIES

(By Associated Press) INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 4. Indiana's new national uard, now in the process or organization, will have units located at a score of cities scattered over the state. Fort Wayne, Evainsville. Terre Haute and Indianapolis probably will have the greater number of the organizations. Under the guard reorganization proKiam outlined toy the WarDepartment, Indiana's assignment of troops numbers 3,068, which will go to form a regiment of infantry, a regiment of field artillery, a battalion of engineers, k signal company, a field hospital and rn ambulance company. These troops will be a part , of the Thirty-eighth division, composed of the guard of West Virginia and Kentucky as well as Indiana. After the first year of organization it is planned to add another regiment of infantry. Board Selects Cities. Selections of the cities that will be seats of the various guard units will be made by a board of army officers, soon to be selected by War Department officers. Although the formal decision of cities is yet to be made, the indications are generally clear as to w hat cities may be the chosen ones. The infantry companies probably will be at the following cities New Albany, Evansville, Terre Haute, Shelbyville, Goshen, Richmond, Newcastle, Elkhart, Renssalear, Fort Wayne, Indiana Harbor and Indianapolis. Attica will have the infantry supply company. The field artillery, which will be motor-drawn, will likely consist of batteries at Fort Wayne, Kokomo, Madison, Bloomington, and Indianapolis. Two batteries may be organized in this city, but if not, Evansville, South Bend and Lafayette may get one of them. The artillery headaiiarters company will doubtless be at Muncie. The machine pun battalion probably will be formed with the headquarters company and two other companies in Indianapolis, with one com

pany at La Porte, and another at

Terre Haute. The engineer company has been mustered in at Gary, its strength having been quickly obtained from the skilled workers in that big industrial district. "Marion will have the ambulance company, or perhaps an infantry company, while Fort Wayne, Columbia City and Indianapolis are in the field as likely choice for the ambulance company.
