Ellis, Mr. -Mm f!hrlB W. Roland, Mr. and wtmi Tfn.hart and Mrs. Flora Hamil ton, Mrs. Louise Davis, and Mrs. Nettle .Thomas ' I " The Theatres MURRETTE " With fifty-five years of stage expert ence behind her, Ada Bashell still brings a remarkable zest to the interpretation of a new role. Last season she appeared on Broadway with Lionel "Rarrvmore In "The Letter of the Law and previous to that she has had seven seasons with Maud Adams in her productions -of "The Little Minister," -"Chanticleer" and "A Kiss for Cinderella." Between stage engagements nhe works in motion pictures, and unlike many actresses of the old school, Bhe 'is warmly ntliusiastLc about film plays. "I am a thorough convert to films," declares Miss BashelL "We old-time Btage folk nave had to change our minds about the quality of the picture Tlay. 'and admit that the public Is jiwtifled in welcoming the newer art. Fpr one thing, small town people who formerly seldom saw a really good play, with big artists in the cast, now have the very best plays and players brought to their tiny theatres, and can see, for reasonable prices, tle very same films that are shown in great picture houses like the Capitol in New York or Tom Moore's Rialto in Washington." Miss Boshell made her first public appearance as a child when she drilled, with a troop of girl Zouaves, before ihe soldiers in camp in Washington. She was the smallest of all those small feminine Zouaves, and at the close of their drill President Lincolnpatted the little girl on the head ana complimented her on her part in the drill. "It was the proudest moment in my life," says Miss Boshell with a reminiscent smile. "I've had all sorts of drills since then, and I've appeared in all sorts of roles and wearing all sorts of costumes. Bu that moment still stands out in my memory." Miss Boshell has a very beautiful character roie in "Blackbirds," the first starring vehicle in which Justine Johnstone, famous "Follies" beauty, will be seen. It comes to the Murrette Theatre in this city Wednesday for a two-day run. LEITER OPERA COMPANY. Martha Cook, the noted American roprano, has atracted the attention of the leading musical Journals of the coimry. The New York Musical Courier frankly rtafms her as a real artist In a recent issue the Musical Courier stated: "Before Martha Cook had sung half a dozen measures, everyone It new she was a singer. When she had finished, there was a great burst of appreciation as spontaneous as though ehe had been the greatest artist in the land. She was recalled several times. Itfartha Cook can SING. She has the -voice, the understanding' and a most charming personality." Concerning Hazel Huntley, the noted contralto with the Leiter Opera company, the Rock Island (111.) Times recently stated: "Miss Hazel Huntley has a deep contralto voice, rich in quality, wide in range and her selections were given with finesse." The Music News of Chicago recently enthused over the conceit appearance of Mr. Joseph Kendrlck. the noted young Chicago tenor. The News is quoted as follows: Mr. Kendrick's tones were rich and full. He has a voice suitable for oratorios and concert, it having the proper range and a very distinctive quality. He is one of our most, popular tenors." With these three distinctive artists appear also, Mr. Clayton Quayle, baritone, and Harrison Burch, pianist. The Leiter Opera company is one of the finest organizations in platform work. The members have unusual in dividual voices, their ensemble work reaching the highest state of perfection, and their elaborate costuming adds to the charm of their-program. Reverend To Keep Hair Wavy , Lustrous, Beautiful The use of the hot curling-iron cannot be too strongly condemned. It means death to the hair eventually. Moreover, it is entirely unnecessaryThe hair can be kept beautifully wavy and curly to any extent and in any j form desired, by using the simple anu harmless silmerine method. Liquid silmerine should be applied to the hair 1 liofnro Hnin? it lin. iisin? a clean tooth brush. In about three hours you will I find that a very pretty "natural" wave J and curliness has resulted, and the erfeot, will last quite a considerable time. Liquid silmerine is really beneficial and it is not sticky nor greasy. Neither does it streak the hair nor stain the scalp. You need get only a few ounces from your druggist.
