WORLD WAR VETERANS ARE-URGED TO APPLY FOR VICTORY MEDALS
With Armistice Day just behind us with its many fond recollections and incidental celebrations, parades, etc., Major Harrell wishes to call the attention of all former soldiers, who have as yet not applied for the Victory Medal, 10 the fact that applications for this valuable token of appreciation, on the part of the government, will still be received at the Indianapolis recruiting station at least for the time being. It is felt that many former soldiers are under the impression that, with the passing of November 11, it will be impossible to apply for the medal. At 1he present time such is not the case, and lieutenant Joseph F. Stoeckel, Jr., who has recently been designated as Victory Medal Officer for the entire Mate, wishes to take this occasion to strongly urge all, who have not as yet applied, to do so at once. Applications may be had at all posts of the American Iegion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as the Y. M. C. A., Red Cross, and all army sub-stations of the main recruiting office. The Indianapolis office of the army recruiting service will be only too glad to be of assistance when it is impossible to apply otherwise. In addition to the application, it is only necessary to forward either the original discharge or a true extract from same to the army recruiting station, Indianapolis, Ind., where, after being acted upon, all papers will be returned to the applicant at once, and the medal will then be forwarded to the applicant within two weeks time from date of receipt of application. is more than likely that all efforts pertaining to the issue of the medal will, in the very near future, be centralized, in which case it is reasonable to assume that long delay will be encountered when making application. Therefore, it is suggested that In order to overcome this, prompt action be taken at once on the part of the former land fighter in making application for the medal.
No Moire Taxation For Them; 40 Sail For the South Seas LONDON, Nov. 15. A party of en thusiastic adventurers headed by F. F. Rhodes Disher, fellow of the Royal Geographical society, have decided to spend their lives on a tropical island away from the excessive taxation. They will leave for the South eeM next month in a schooner yacht, the Medora. "More than 1,000 people have asked to come with us," said Mr. Disher. "Our first party Includes doctors, solicitors, planters, ex-officers, surveyors, engineers, a wireless operator and a clergyman. Several of the party
are taking their wives and families with them. "Until 'we have secured an island or a portion of one and fitted It up temporarily, we shall live in our vessel. One strict rule is that the colony shall have no politics," 'Mr. Disher added.
