REAL ESTATE FOB SALE 42STRAIGHT TALK WITH SHIDELER It Costs Less It costs less to own a home than it costs to - renL Did you eyer thick about the matter in that light? DO YOU DOUBT THK TRUTH OP THIS STATEMENT? Many people think they can not afford to own a home. On the contrary, we want to convince you of one fact that is, that you can not afford to NOT own a home. Every time you pay $20.00. .$30.00 or $50.00 rent, the landlord makes a profit out of your daily toil. THERE IS NO QUESTION ABOUT IT If it were not so. there would not be any landlords. If the owner of the house you pay rent to did not earn money from the rent you pay him, he would soon cease to own houses. We are trying to show you that you are making a mistake in continuing to pay rent all your life. Come in and let us show you how you can become your own landlord. INTERNATIONAL SHOW STIMULATES INTEREST Peerless anions expositions the International Live Stock event at Chicago during the first week of December has during the past 20 years afforded ian annual spectacle of animal 1 i f that has attracted several thousand visitors from all over the United States and Canada, with a generous representation from Europe and thti southern hemisphere. Its primary purpose is to stimulate interest in livestock husbandry and promote food production; incidentally it has been Chicago's greatest drawing card, combining not only a gigantic live stock display, but a score or more of conventions of live stock associations, whereat the policy of these organizations is formulated. No other wvent attracts as many visitors to Chicago, people with substantial purchasing' capacity, as the "International." new conditions the live stock industry must address itself to the task of replenishing the larder of over 100,000,000 people, and without the stimuta tion afforded and Interest created constantly by the International Live Stock exposition this will be impossible. The display of animal life at Chicago. November 27 to December 4, is the tonic influence of one of America's greatest industries. Five Counties to Attend Basketball Tourney Here The fact that interest in basketball is growing by leaps and bounds throughout the country is shown by the elaborate plans that are being made for the second annual Indiana Amateur Independent Basketball tournament that will be held in Indianapolis February 24, 23 and 26, 1921. Arrangements for a district tournament to be held in Richmond in February are being made at the present time. At the Richmond tourney, teams from Franklin, Union. Fayette and Wayne counties will be entered. The tournament will be carried out on the same plan as the state, college, and high school tournaments ot the past have been. Entry blanks are expected the latter part of this week which will be distributed to the independent organizations in these counties. State headquarters announce that 200 teams at least will be entered in the first eliminations.and the final result will be a real championship team selected in championship manner. Teams interested in the state tournament should get in touch with George Brehm, who will be able to furnish blanks and information on the meet.

FEDERATION WARNS AGAINST INVESTING IN PACKING COMPANY Under. date of November 11. the State Farm Federation at Indianapolis sent out the following letter to all inquiries with relation to the United Packing company, of Moncie.: and the character of the stock the concern is now marketing. It sounds a note of warning. The letter reads: ' Dear Sir: As a result of manr Inquiries having comf to the officers of The Indiana Federation of Farmers' Associations concerning- the United Packing Comoanr of MnnHo -mm vbad an investigation made of the rroposition and some of the men connected with it. . It has come to our attention that some of the stock salesmen are representing that the Federation is backing the proposition.. The endorsement of the federation has not been eought and has not been given. We have found out little concerning Messrs. Huggrins or Crosby and Baker, but we do find that 1. W. Haas, one of the men in charge of selling the stock, is the same person who was interested in selling the stock f6r a similar concern at Ottawa. Illinois, and that in the way of commissions, bonus, etc., between $150,000 and $200.000 was paid for selling the stock and by his own commission, his only interest n the United Packing Company is the securing of his commission for the sale of the stock. We also find that Eli Doud, who has some connection with the United Packing Company of Muncie. was instrumental in the organization of the Ottawa plant and for a time was president and director. Later his resignation as president was demanded by the directors and when he tendered his resignation he left Ottawa. We learned that since the organization or the Ottava plant, Mr. Haag and Mr. Baker have hn some connection with an attempt to org-'ae a packing plant in Texas. These facts with such other 'nrormation as we have received from o tawa. are such that we do not feel warranted in recommending any proposition similar . to the tDttawa plant. - Very truly your, Indiana Federation of Farmers' Asso's. Per Lewis Taylor. Agents Working Here. Agents for the Muncie plant are now at work in Wayne County. It is well to add that the farmers of Delaware County have been advised that the local Federation does not recomend this proposition as a good investment. OLD FRIENDS MEETING, ORANGE, CLOSES DOORS The last chapter has been written in the history of the Orange Friend. meeting. The history of the little church is closely Interwoven with the religious history of Wayne county. In the early part of the nineteenth century a few members of Friends in search of nw and cheaper homp located in the vicinity of Elkhorn Falls, four and one-half miles south of Richmond. Among them were the Clarks, from Oronge county. N. ('.. the Bonines, and Williams, from East Tennessee. Like Abraham of old. they proceeded immediately to erect an altar, a rid log meeting house. Later this altar was supplanted by a substantial brick house- and still later, to meet the growing demands of the church, a commodious farm house, the present structure, was erected. In the course of time the membership was very much enlarged not only by removals from other meetings, but also by reception into membership of many living in the community who became valuable members. Prominent among these later addition? occur the names of Rue, Davenport, Elinore, Brown. Wolfe, Edgerton, Wright. -Roberts, Feasel and many others of meritorious mention. Doors Are Closed. Orange meeting, in common with anv other meetings, has had its flood?, and low tides. Meetings in the far west have gained at its expense. The meetings of Richmond have been, its beneficiaries. D?ath has removed many of Its members from work3 to rewards. At a 'conference o the regular members of the church, most of whom Mve in Richmond it was deemed advisable to aA Whitewater monthly meeting, of which it was a competent part, to officially close the doors of the 'Orange church. This was donp at its last session. Thus after an existence of 116 years the last chapter has been written in the history of the old church. Its ppueficient influence eternity aJon will reveal. It is with a feeling of sadness that the obituary of Orange meeting is written. Edward Timberlake. Rubber trees grow at a tremendous ipace. At four years old from planting a rubber tree will measure eighteen inches In girth and is then ready for tapping. " LEGAL NOTICE I NOTICE TO IlEinS.
