INCLUDE MORE ROADS FOR HIGHWAY SYSTEM IN PROGRAM OF 1921

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 3. Inclusion of more roads in the state highway system and a highway improvement program for 1921 will receive consideration at a meeting the 6tate highway eommission will hold Thursday at Indianapolis at 10 a. m. The commission will confer with Governor Goodrich on a number of roads it has designated as parts of the system, but which the Governor has not yet approved. L. H. Wright, director of the highway department, will recommend that ihe commission include approximately seventy-seven miles more of roads in

the system. The roads and their ap

proximate lengths are: Road from Shoals to West Baden, sixteen miles;

Washington to Elnora. over Newberry br'dgo to connect "with Route 12. east of Lyons, twenty-five miles; Linton to Sullivan, sixteen miles; Lebanon to Westfleld, sixteen miles; Elkhart to Michigan state line, just south of Ed-

wardsburg, four miles. To Take Up Federal Money. Mr. Wright said the commission must pave 120 miles of roads next

year in order to take up federal aid

money that will be available no longer than fiext. year. He said the commission likely will pave approximately fifteen miles of the Michigan road from

South Fiend to ihe Marshall county line and the approximately thirtyeight miles of uncompleted parts of the National road in Clay, Putnam, Hendricks and Vigo counties. This Mr. Wright said would practically complete the paving of the National rojid from Indianapolis through Terre Ha.te to the Illinois state line. The paving of about twenty-eight miles of the National road in Hancock

and Henry counties, Mr. Wright said

HOG ISLAND WILL BE CLOSED. IF UNSOLD FEB. 1, BENSON WASHINGTON, Nov. 3. Hog Island Shipyard at Philadelphia built at a cost to the government of about $70,000,080, will be closed Feb. 1 unless disposed of by tnat date, Chairman Benson has announced. Failure of the board to receive more

than two bids approximating $4,000,000 ; each for the purchase of the yard was probably due, the chairman said, to a tight money' market or the clo.-e prox- i imity of the election. He added, how-! ever, that he had reason to believe ' that several large business concerns ( were interested and expected pro-1 posals from them to purchase or lease i

The Epoch-Making Test at the nr i. a. ri-i. a

Mr. Edison wanted to prove to the

Richmond that his

new phonograph reproduced the. art of great artists with perfect realism. The tost he made was dramatic. Harvey Hindermyer, sent hre by Mr. Edison, stood be.-ide the New Edison and tang. Suddenly ho stopped singing. The New Edison took up the song and sang it alor.e. The living voice and its re-creation by the New Edison were thus directly compared. The human f ar could detect, no difference between living voice and re-created voice. It was both Hie test and the proof. And the proof marked a new epoch in music.

The Crown of Womanhood is motherhood. But many women face the ordeal; of maternity without sufficient preparation. At such times

and late r the mother should take a vegetable

tonic, sold by druggists and known in almost every home as Doctor Pierce's Favorite Prescription. Thousands of women have testified as to its efficacy as does the following : Kalkasica, Mich. "I cannot write enough to express my thanks for being able to recommend Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription. Motherhood left me in a very bad condition of which my doctor could not help me, but 'Favorite Prescription ' has done wonders for me. I took two bottles of the ' Prescription '

and have been helped wonderfully, being able now to do my owa housework and work out besides. I feel like a new woman. I will do all in my power to help other sufferers. I wish I could speak to the thousands of suffering women who have tried so many other remedies and advise them to try the 'Prescription,' for it is a Godsend to weak, suffering, run-down women."
