Scenes in Hades, said to rival even the most fanciful of Dore's famous drawings, have been reproduced on the screen in Norma Talmadge's latest VotiMial ctnrrinsr vphiple. "The Branded Woman," now showing at the j Murrette Theatre. Because of the elaborate nature of the sets called for in this motion picture, which was adapted by Anita Loos and Albert Parker from Oliver D. Bailey's well known stage play, "Branded," Hugo Ballin was engaged to design them. The result has been an artistic triumph. In addition to beautiful Interiors for a private house in Paris and the Ritz Hotel, a fashionable boarding school for girls up the Hudson, the library and other rooms of a wealthy New Yorker's home are some remarkable scenes in India. The scenes of the Far East reveal an open market place and a slaveblock, where Norma, as the heroine, is sold at public auction, with donkeys, camels For GENTLEMEN We sell Signet, Set and Emblem Rings. Miss Mason'B delightful performance covers varying experiences in which she is seen first as an ill-treated attache of a travelling medicine show, then in succession as a "boy" tramp, a waitress, a lady's companion and the flence of a rich man's son. Raymond McKee is her leading man and the cast includes also Creil Vanauker, Alice Wilson and Jack Pratt. Beginning Monday four vaudeville acts will be presented at both the first and last half bills of the Murray theater, according to Manager Frank Holland, Thursday. Mr. Holland is trying to show an even better class of vaudeville than in the past, and is booking acts of unusual merit. As many of his acts for the next couple months have been booked for some time, it will be impossible for the higher class of vaudeville to be presented beginning Monday. It will be necessary for contracts now in force to expire before a complete change can be -made, said Mr. Holland. Each bill, however, accord ing to Mr. Holland, beginning with the first of next week, will contain bigtime acts which will run with acts of the type staged here in past months. Admission charges will be slightly advanced starting Monday. Dutch Have Deadline To Frustrate Smuggling (By Associated Press) THE HAGUE, Oct. 29.
