MARINE CORPS MEN PREPARE FOR ANNAPOLIS (By Associated Press) WASHINGTON. OcL 2. Enlisted men in the Marine corps who desire to enter the United States Naval academy at Annapolis, will be given opportunity to take a preparatory course of study at the Marine corps institute. Quantico, Va,. it was announced today by the Navy department. Secretary Daniels has added a special preparatory course to the insti tute's curriculum for the purpose. Under rresent regulations, sufficient vacancies have existed at the Naval academy to accommodate all enlisted men of the navy and Marine corps who have qualified for appointments from the ranks. 5,000 KENTUCKY MINERS ORDERED BACK TO WORK LOUISVILLE. Ky., Oct. 2. Five thousand miners on strike in western Kentucky were instructed to return to work Monday by union officials following the reaching of an agreement y terday on a wage increase for miners by committees representing miners and operators. All day and monthly men were given an increase of $1.50 a day, and drivers $1.75 per day, retroactive to Aug. 16, 1920.
