EDNA A KENT FORBES ' It always seems strange to me that it should be necessary to advise a woman to take special care of her neck. It Is so easy to rub cold cream on the neck at the same time that It Js rubbed on the face. It Is not a bit of trouble, and It really takes no extra time at all. Practically every woman rubs cold cream into her face every few days, at least. If she were to rub a little cream into the neck at the same time she would never complain about a neck that is stained, brown, and dirty In appearance, and she would not be so likely to complain of premature wrinkles. She need noV necessarily take time to massage her neck, for if she only lets the cream stay on the skin during the few minutes that she is rubbing it in her face, it will still do her a great deal of good. For the pores will have a chance to absorb the oil, which will cleanse them and leave them in better condition to carry out their natural functions. A little forethought like this will keep the neck youthful until far beyond middle life. (Of course, if there are deep lines in the neck you will have to massage a little In order to stimulate those lax muscles, and you will bave to use special creams which will actually nourish the skin. You will find bleaching lotions valuable and you will find ice rubs almost necessary if you wish to keep your neck young. Above all, remember never to wear tight collars, for these will do more than anything else to make your neck look old and flabby. W. Y. The mixture is made from two parts of cornstarch, one part powdered borax and one part almond meal. Mix the ingredients thoroughly then use on the face in pce of soap. Misfortune. You should lose no time in consulting your family physician. There Is no reason why you should feel sensitive about such a thing; your health is too important for you to go on trifling with it. A Heart Problems Dear Mrs. Thompson: Could you give me the address of a boy not over twelve years who would like to make his home in the country with a young married couple. They live in Illinois. They will clothe and educate him as their own child. They have no children of their own. It will be a good home for a bright and honest lad. COUNTRY HOME. The hair will become soft and glossy and it will cease to fall. Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am a boy of eighteen. I work and care for my mother. Father is dead. I am lonesome for a girl friend and it almost forces me to suicide because I have none. All the girls pass me as if I weYe lifeless or something they can't see. Please help me with your advice. The Editor. 29 years old. I have been married 12 years and have two children, a boy 11 years and a girl eight. My husband is nine years older than myself. The worse trouble we have had has been because he is so jealous o! me and he has never had the least right to be because I always stick lo him no matter how he is on account of the children. Now he is jealous of one of my cousins and I just can't give my cousin up and treat him enubby for my husband, and it Is breaking my heart. He says he will leave me and take the children. We neither feel right toward each other. What would you do in my place? TROUBLED WIFE. From your letter it seems that the only trouble with your husband is that he is jealous. I think it would be a mistake for you to leave him while there is still a chance that things can be more agreeable. It i. a mistake for you to arouse his jealousy by refusing to give up your cousin. " Welcome American Skips Into European Commerce (By Associate! Press) LONDON, Sept. 29. Proposals that United States vessels participate in regular trade between the United Kingdom and the European continent were discussed at an important meetJ lng in this city yesterday, according to ine i-ionaon I lines, i uis tsea traffic is declared to be extensive at present and engaged in it are British, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Japanese, Danish, Swedish and Russian East Asiatic companies. Various representatives of steamship lines expressed entire approval of United States ships entering the I tra de on equal terms, but some little difficulty is anticipated owing to the fact that all ships practice what is known as the rebate system, which is illegal in the United States. The rebate system was left over for further consideration by American shipping authorities. Pocket Still Latest Device Taken by Federal Officers ASHEVILLE, N. C, Sept. 29 A pocket still Is the latest device captured by federal prohibition officers. Agents working out of the local office recently captured such a miniature still near Saluda. The whole outfit was so small the officers put it into their pockets and brought it to the city for exhibition purposes. The officers called it a parlor still. It is of about one table-glass capacity and manufactured an article for home consumption. It was said by officers that the still was complete to the smallest detail. HE WENT 50-50 WITH HIS WIFE Surprised to see how quickly the new medicine, Dreco, went after their troubles. Indigestion and gas in the stomach relieved, sluggish liver aroused, weak kidney strengthened. "I was certainly surprised to see how quick my wife and I were relieved of our troubles, by taking the new medicine, Dreco," declares Mr. Harry Dunham of 1521 North 12th street, Vincennes, Ind. "Both of us were feeling worn out, tired, no energy and had a " poor appetite. .My stomach Would fill up with gas after each meal making me very uncomfortable, also had griping pains in my bowels, my liver was lazy which gave me dizzy spells and spots would float before my eyes. I often had pains in my back over my kidneys and had to get up several times during the night. "My wife was quite nervous and suffered daily from constipation, bilious headaches and shortness of breath. The muscles in her back were sore and stiff. "Since we have been taking Dreco both of us are feeling greatly improved, all our troubles are much better and by the time we finished a full treatment I'm sure we will be sound and well. We think Dreco the best medicine ever brought to this city." All druggists now sell Dreco and it Is being especially introduced in Richmond by Clem Thistlethwaite's seven drug stores. Advertisement. The Growing Guld A series of articles prepared especially for The Palladium, by the United States Public - Health Service, Washington, D. C.3 TO PRESERVE GOOD TEETH From what has been said in a previous article, you will realize how important it is to look alter your children's teeth, train them to care for them properly, and have a dentist examine them from time to time to make sure no defect Is overlooked. Have you ever stopped to think how great an influence diet has on the de- j veiopmeni oi tne leein; ine importance of a proper diet is much greater than most people realize. When, baby comes into the world It is apparently toothless. Nevertheless at this time the .first teeth are prac-1 tlcally completely formed, lying be- j neath the gums. In fact under, these j first teeth there are already the beginnings of the permanent teeth. .Under these .circumstances, you will understand that these teeth cannot develop as they should if the body is not supplied with a sufficient amount of the necessary building material. Hence in the food ' for your child iyou should make sure that especially those elements which build bony structure, of which the tooth is a type, are supplied in sufficient quantities. This fact recognized, you will agree that proper care of the child's teeth really begins in earliest infancy, even before any teeth have appeared, and should be directed especially to the infant's feeding. Nursing at the breast is by all odds the best way to start the proper development of the child's teeth. Milk Is Helpful. The two most important elements needed in the diet for building sound teeth are lime and phosphoric acid, and for the growing child there is not a better source of these than milk; mother's milk in infancy and clean cow's milk later. After infancy the diet of every child should include a glass of milk with each meal, and in addition to this there should be other sources of mineral salts, such as fruits, green vegetables and pure water. But there is another important thing to remember about the relation of food to good teeth, and that is the influence of exercise. Just as regular use of the muscles makes the muscles large, firm and strong, so regular use of the teeth for chewing helps to make stronger and better teeth. The food should therefore, be pre Cub'cura Quickly Soothes Itching Scalps Cuticnra kills dandruff, stops itching, the cause of dry, thin and falling hair. sented in such a form that it will require chewing. For this reason the diet should include a certain-amount of coarse material designed especially to exercise the teeth. Coarse wholegrain breads, hard tack, baked potatoes eaten with their Jackets, fresh apples these and similar articles included In the food will help to mako good teeth. Decay of Teeth. Decay of the teeth, also spoken of as "dental caries" is caused by the action of germs -or bacteria which lodge upon the less exposed part of the tooth. As a result of their growth the tooth structure is softened, allowing the succeeding generations of bacteria to penetrate further into the substance of the tooth. Much can be done to prevent this decay of the teeth, and this accumulation of germs, by brushing and cleaning the teeth regularly. Each child should be taught the proper use of the tooth brush, and the mother should train her child to brush the teeth regularly after each meal. At the present time the proper use of the tooth bruh is taught in many schools by means of the "tooth drill," but this win ncip but little if the mother does not make sure that this teaching is actually applied in the home. Does your child brush his teeth regularly? Do you see that a good tooth brush and some pleasant tooth paste or other dentifrice is at hand? Doyou ever look at your child's teeth? These are some of your responsibilities. Question relating to Child Health and to related problem Trill be an"Wfrfd by expert of the United State Public Health Service.
