CHURCH UNITY NEARER AS RESULT OF FAITH AND ORDER CONCLAVE
: (By Associated Press) ; GENEVA, Sept. 24. -Great progress toward Christian unity among the denominations of the world as a means to a "better world" Is said to have been made by the World Conference on Faith and Order held here In August Robert H. Gardiner, of Gardiner, Maine, secretary of the American EnlacoDal church. nnoVn of it as
"the most Important gathering of
Christians held since the schism between the Eastern and Western churches a thousand years ago. "Men from 40 countries," said Mr. Gardiner, "have represented here all the great churches throughout the world that confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God-made man, except the Church of Rome. Must Convert World. "There has been frank discussion of the differences between them, but In the earnest desire to understand and appreciate each other and to abandon the spirit of controversy. The minds of all have been given to the effort to reach that visible unity of Christians which is the only evidence potent to convince and to convert the world to Christ "The meeting has grown toward a closer brotherhood and our hope is sure that a great step forward has been taken toward Christian unity." The delegates to the conference included leaders of prominence from many lands. Some of them spoke tongues strange to nearly all of the delegates and at times there was difficulty in finding interpreters.
one wife and a Pekinese make a "family." Some girls want to marry 'or the same reason that prompts them to learn to run a motorcar, or to go up in. an airplane Just in order to be able to SAY they've done it Making a man propose to you is something like teaching a cat to Jump through a barrel; you don't expect him to do it gracefully, but the astonishing thing is that he does it at all. Funny, but the moment a man's love for a woman ceases to be blind, it becomes a little lame. Even love is brighter, if Jewelled with consistency.
Bachelor Girl Sayings By Helen Rowland
ICopyrlgrht. 1920. by The Wheeler Syndicate, Inc.) There are two kinds of "late husbands" the slow arid the dead. When a man and a girl profess to have an "understanding," It usually means that the man understands that the girl will marry him, if he ever decides to ask her. After a time, "falling in love" becomes such a matter of habit with some men, that no matter how often they "fall," they never receive a permanent injury like marriage. You can melt a man's heart as you can melt iron, as long as the flame is there; , but, once his love has cooled, nothing on earth will soften it but another flame. Nowadays, you can gauge the depth of a girl's mind merely by asking her whether she regards a husband as a blessing, a necessity, a luxury, an affliction, a Joke, or an opportunity. Life is becoming awfully simplified, isn't it? For instance, a walk is called a "dance"; a cowbell is regarded as a "musical instrument"; one-room-and bath constitute an "apartment"; and
Heart Problems
Dear Mrs. Thompson: I am 26 years old and have been married eight years and have three children. My home is very unhappy. I am trtie to my husband and love him as dearly as any wife could love her husband, but he is not home half of his time. He has a car and he very seldom asks me to go anywhere. There is a woman whom he takes for rides and he takes her to the movies. I have talked to her twice and asked her not to go with him, but it doesn't do any good. I get so disgusted I can hardly bear it. When I talk to him about it and tell him what he ought to do he always stands up for her. I sometimes tell him I am going to leave him and he says if I do he will have the children. If I should leave him could he get any of the children? He is away from home one night out of every week and leaves me alone. Sometimes I don't see him for two or three days. I have seen them together twice. If I should fly on her and give her
a good flogging onco could anything
be done with me? HEART BROKEN. If you left your husband there is little chance that he could have legal
right to any of the children. You
would have to talk to a lawyer, however, to be sure. The lawyer would
ask you questions which would show both sides of the case and he would
be able to Judge accordingly.
To flog the woman would be unwise.

because she could sue you for it. If you really intend to get a divorce I would advise you to let her know that her name will be mentioned and if she wants to keep away from publicity she had better drop your husband at once. I believe if you try to forget about the matter and say nothing more about the other woman your husband will soon tire of her. Such infatuations usually blow over unless the wife kindles the flame by her Jealousy.

HONORA Charming in sound and admirable in significance is Honorla or Honora, as It is most generally known today. It comes originally from the Latin "honos" or "honor," that quality which the Roman soldier most esteemed. Honor was a Roman dlety, in fact. Honorius was the name given to the Spanish father of the great Theodoslus; it also named his lmebcile grandson, the last genuine Roman emperor, and was inherited by his niece, Justa Grata Honora, who proved unworthy of her three illustrious names. Honortne was a Neustrian maiden in a Danish invasion and regarded as a martyr. Her name prevails in France and Germany. Ireland has made it a favorite, contracting it generally to
NOTICE! The -notice we have run regarding our failure to continue "The Diary of an Engaged Girl" has apparently escaped the attention of some readers. We have received several letters asking why we have stopped printing the Instalments. The reason is that Miss Phyllis Phil, lips, author of the story, who has been In Europe since early June, has sent no copy for several weeks. It had been hep intention to return to the United States Sept. 12, and had she got home at this time there would have been no break In the story. She is not home, and we have not heard from her. We are entirely In the dark as to what has happened. As soon as she returns, the next Instalments will be rushed to us.

HOOSIER "WHITE HOPE" IS .; ACCEPTED FOR MARINES ' WASHINGTON, Sept 24. The en listment of a 15-year-old lad in tho marines was authorized by Major General John A. Lejeune when the .Fort Wayne, Ind., recruiting station reported that the son of Captain H. A. Duemling, medical corps, United States army, had "white hope" meas urements. The tender age of 16, for apprentices to learn the drum and trumpet calls, is the minimum age for the sea soldiers, and according to all the medical and military experts a height of five feet four inches and a weight of 128 pounds is all that can be expected of these youthful war
riors. As young Duemling came across with a height of five feet 10 inches, and tipped the beam at 175 pounds, he not only broke the 15-year-old record, but also several yards of red tape. The sea soldiers at Fort Wayne predict a great future for their young Hoosier, who will be the youngee' marine in the corps by a margin of 10 months.
