The Diary of an
By Phyllis Thursday Aunt Cecilia's wedding day, bleas her dear, darling heart. Lord make her and keep her happy. Of course she was awake with the first rays of the sun, this morning, und stole over to my bed and shook xne, for very happiness that the day of ,6&ys had come at last. Of course, I too was awake, and she came Into bed with me, and we lay and talked, and prayed for each other's eternal happiness, and all that, until mother arrived upon the scene, all common-sense, with a command to get up and get ready for breakfast, as there were all sorts of things still to be attended to, before the grand hike out to Montmorency. I immediately slipped into my clothes. So did aunty, and then we rang for our breakfast to be served in our room. We polished off a hearty one, I can tell you, wedding or no wedding. Finished packing the traveling bag, and then I helped Aunt Cecilia to get irto her gorgeous costume. She looked too beautiful for words, when we had finished putting on all last touches, and although she was not as rosy as usual her cheeks looked creamy, and the delicate heart of the wildest rose was In each one. The sight of her made me glad. Then as we were sitting waiting for the bridegroom to appear, the door opened and let in Cecil! Yes, indeed, he sidled up 1o me and told me he had decided to appear before mother, tell her that he had been suddenly called over to England, and was sailing back to his job, shortly, and simply could not resist coming in to peek at us all in Paris, en route. All very well thought out, I'll say; but what he really meant was that he just couldn't bear not to be present at dear old Cecilia's wedding, specially Heart Problems t)ear Mrs. Thompson: I want Ho send a word of advise to "Flossie," the marriei woman who had her letter in your column. I know exactly how to sympathize with her. as my life has been without any show of affection or love for 2t'. years, as far as my husband is concerned. But I have two lovely, loving children who in a measure make up for their father's neglect. I was married when only 18 years old, and thought my life was to be full of love and kindness, as that waa what I had been promised. I very soon found that I was thought moie of the farther away I kept from my husband, and for years it nearly killoi! me. Until my babies came, and I poured all the lpve of a very loving nature upon them, I was not happy My husband would always say, "If I did not love you, I certainly would not work as hard as I do to feed you or stay home with you every night, or even with you at all, and that ought ;o be enough for any sensible married woman." But it isn't enough. I think ninetenths of all the women In the world would rather go through any poverty in the world, or suffering rather than not to have any love and little kin I ways they were used to in courtship days. You simply starve for it as you would for food. " I have cried myself to sleep many nigsht and my heart ached just because I was so disappointed in not feeling I could go to the man I loveti and show him any affection. But I still loved him and do yet in a way, more as a friend now, for he has killed air the great, deep love I had for him by his neglect, and also by cursing and swearing in front of my boys. My advice to "Flossie" is simply this LEAVE HIM. While I hate divorce, am sure I would never have been with my husband this long if I hadn't hated it so badly. Yet I never would endure these years again if I could go back. I would have left before I had any babies, and could have made my own living and found some good man who had a little of the love I lon:d for in his make-up. I want to tell you what I once heard a young man answer the minister when he was getting marrie J. The minister said after the ceremony. "What is the greatest thing you are 32 AN ATTRACTIVE AND BECOMING DRESS FOR WARM DAYS. Pattern 3297 was used to develov this design. It is cut in four sizes: 8. 10, 12 and 14 years. Engaged Girl Phillips knowing how sweet she has always been to me, and bow much I love her. Aunt Cecilia of course fell for his pretty speeches about his not being able to die comfortably, if he missed her wedding, and what woman wouldn't be pleased to hear same? She patted his head and said it was awfully dear of him to appear, and that she thought it was a wise move all round for him to show himself, In the flesh, to mother! Then mother, herself, arrived, and she was taken aback at the sight of the wicked one, but I think she was also quite pleased to see his smiling face again, for she Is fond of Cecil F.ay what she will. Besides nothing could possibly be allowed to spoil the cloudless perfection of aunty's wedding day. So it turned out to be a most Joyful family reunion sort of affair, end we just had the time of our lives joking with aunty and hugging her be tween us, until the step of the bride groom was heard on the threshold, and Cecilia turned her shining face to wards him, smiling and silent. Jeff came In very tall and masterful like, bowed to us, winked at sight of Cecil, and then caught his blushing bride-to-be in his strong arms. He whispered something in her left ear, and it made her cling to him for a space; then aunty sat down and told Jeff, gaily, that everything was finish ed, even to the packing of the traveling bag, and that she was ready to put on her hat and fly with him to to Timbuctoo, if he so desired! Wedding mornings and weddings are such grand and thrilling things, aren't they? And to think that any one in this whole world deliberately refuses to be a bride, at least once in a life time. It's awful. (To be continued.) going to do to make your home a happy one The young man answered, "Next to serving my Savior I am going to love my wife. I don't mean just love her but spoon with her. Spoon with her while she fries my pork chops. Spoon with her while she sweeps and baker Spoon with her just as much 50 yeans from today as I do today." The best of it is they have been married ten years and he is actually keeping his word. My husband calls him soft and an idiot and all sorts of names. A HEART HUNGRY MOTHER. Your brave heart will comfort many a woman who is suffering from want of her husband's love. It took courage for you to find happiness in spite of your sorrow, but you met your lot without flinching. Now you are gratetul for the love of your boys and feel that after all life has not been ali bitterness. Suburban WINCHESTER, Ind.
