DANIEL'S BRIDE CAN NEVER GOME HOME, IS MOTHER'S ASSERTION
INDIANAPOLIS. " Sept. S. More knots were tied Thursday and Friday In the nuptial tangle o! Harry R. Daniel, the horsewhipped bridegroom, who was for long time a resident of Richmond, and his wife, who was Miss Sarah Frances Cooper, 20 years old. of Indianapolis. The affair settled into an endurance contest with the young bride's love for her 50-year-old husband in the balance against the definite announcement of her mother, Mrs Charles M. Cooper, 1730 North Meridian street, that the family home will be closed to her as long as she remains Daniel's wife, Mr. Cooper is president of the United States Encaustic Tile company. "We have resolved never to permit Sarah to enjoy shelter under this roof or ever to come Into a penny, as long as she remains the wife of that man. Daniel," Mrs. Cooper declared. From Mrs. C. C. Shafer, of Decatur, Ind., Daniel's sister, and who la Mso formerly of Richmond, who was at Us wedding in Chicago Tuesday, came the statement that Mrs. Daniel told hwr eho loved Daniel so much she would Klve up her family for him if necessary. Talks to Head of Daniel's Firm. Mrs. Cooper, who created a sensation in the Chicago Union station sheds Tuesday, by slashing Daniel when he appeared to meet her daughter, made a report of the trouble Thursday over long distance telephone to Daniel's business associates in New York. Sho called S. W. Straus, president of a magazine publishing company of which Daniel 1 secretary, and told him fully the opinion she entertains of her son-in-law. She said Mr. Straus thanked her and said he would Buminon Daniel to New York at once. It was learned that the newlyweds did not go to Decatur, Ind., after their wedding, as was supposed, but left Chicago directly for New York. They wero reported to be going to the RitzCarlton Hotel, but had not arrived last night. "Oh, how I hatd ljim!" exclaimed Mrs. Cooper, discussing Daniel's mar
riage to her daughter. "He came Into
her life, flattered her, tricked her, fool

she declared. "I want the people there in New York with whom. Daniel associates to know of it and to see exactly what kind of a man he is to trick my daughter into marrying him." Mrs. Cooper said Daniel called on Mr. Coper a few weeks ago and asked for their daughter's hand. At that time, she said, Mr. .Cooper told Daniel he would never consent to the marriage and. that it his daughter disobeyed hlro she would be disinherited. She has received no word from her daughter since the scene in the Chicago station. Didn't Intend to Marry. More details of Mrs Coper's horsewhipping cf Daniel and his subsequent marriage to the former student of fashionable Ogontz college at the Moody Bible institute were given by Daniel's sister, Mrs. Shafer. "I went to Chicago with Harry." she said, "and he never intended at that time to be married immediately. But the attack by Mrs. Cooper caused him and Sarah to decide to wait no longer. They had dinner at the Blackstone hotel after the wedding and departed for New York. Sarah expressed her
regret that her parents could not approve of her decision, but said she

ence. I'd welcome the chance to cut his old bald head again. Yes, I wou'.d." Says She Warned Daughter. Mrs. Cooper said she had made determined efforts to cause a break between Daniel and her daughter, after she had read some of his letters. "I told Sarah then she was leaving a good home, all that money could
mean for her, the love of her parents,
if she decided to go on and marry Daniel, and I meant it and I mean it now." When she realized that her daughter was of age and could make her own choice, she said she was filled with rage and planned to have her revenge by publicly horsewhipping Daniel.
loved Harry and would leave her family for him. She hoped that some way would be found to effect a reconciliation. Daniel Is said to have been divorced in 1915 by Mrs. Hattie H. Daniel, cf Chicago, who charged desertion. It is reported she received $7,500 alimony. Richard D. Hall, 2411 College avenue, is the former Mrs. Daniel's brother. Mrs. Hall said last night. Daniel's first matrimonial bark, she asserted, palled for 21 years. Mrs. Hattie Daniel is understood to be working in New York.
