CHINESE GIANT IS WAKING UP, CLAIMS BANCKER IN REPORT
(Br Associated Press) NEW YORK. Bept. 2. China, for centurien the unprogressive nation; whose glory was In the past, is forging ahead in business ways that re-; mind one of aggressive American ! purchasing agent of the Western Electric company, declared here today in a resume of trade investigations he had made during a six months' tour of the world. ; "China presents a most fertile field for American enterprise," he said. "Despite an occasional military effort by some small minority, that nation is a hive of industry. Labor seems plentiful and. what is more important, cheap. In fact the latter feature is 60 true that capital has a clear way for productive plans and new fields of effort. Adopting American Methods. "The Chinese business men, especially those who have been educated abroad, are adopting American and British methods and are forging ahead. Exchange is working to the advantage of China because of the rise in value of 6ilvcr bullion, which works to the benefit of the big republic in its position in other countries." India, ancient land of mystery, also is making big strides commercially, with Americans there as in other far eastern territory laying foundations for future trade, Mr. Bancker said. The Hindoo is beginning to make himself an important factor in business ond political circles, he continued, adding: "It is remarkable how the average Asiatic as a result of foreign educational processes seems to be 'losing his reputation for self-effacing conservatism. Today you find him in positions of importance, competing with nil sorts of foreign conditions." Boycott Against Japan. Reverting to China, Mr. Bancker said: "One fact thnt Ampricans have to their advantage in China is the boycott which exists against Japanese ana German relations. The Combined Chinese Chambers of Commerce have gone on record as declaring a 10-year boycott against Germany and because of racial differences It is very improbahie whether Japan will ever get a really strong foot-hold. Australia has been quick to jump into this breach and is now supplying quantities of foodstuffs which the Chinese can use, but if we can promise any kind of delivery and that is the really important condition which everyone abroad is insisting upon nowadays, we should have no trouble in establishing firm trading relations. "There Is a certain sales psychology which must be remembered when dealing with the Chinaman and that is his respect for tradition. One foreign importer found himself unable for a time to dispose of a shipment of fruits which came in yellow colored cans, yellow being associated in China with death, while on the other hand it has been found that goods cloaked in red,

P.. late of New York Hospital Staffs and a graduate of the University of Baltimore, ho says: "When you see a man contented to merely 'hold a job' a man who has no other interest than remaining in his own rut who is perfectly satisfied with what comes in his pay envelope every week, and is willing to so through life without ever amounting to much, you will always find that his lack of interest and enthusiasm is caused by a lowered vitality and a weakened physical condition. He either has a poor appetite or else he is not retting the proper nourishment out of what ho eats to build health and strength. Nature puts in certain raw foods a vital life-giving substance, which Scientists have given the name vita mines. If ! were asked 'What ae Vitamines?' J should say 'They are life they are energy they are power they give rength and beauty to your body and vigor to your mind." Hut even though you were to select the very foods which do contain vitamines. you would probably not get enough of thorn to do you much good, for present methods of preparation and cooking rob these foods of their- vitamines before they reach our tables. As a result you fail to get enough strengthening nourishment and even now every organ of your body may be crying for the life-giving vitamines which Nature seems to have provided for the express purpose of )uilding vigorous health, keen mentality and great physical power. To supply the necessary vigor for the task, there must be a good meal at noon. And what could be more nourishing, more appetizing, than goldencrusted, home-baked bread?
