VOTERS' CATECHISM : PRESENTED; CAN YOU ANSWER QUESTIONS? v .xfr-t : 1 1-?v The county auditor of Marion county has prepared the following "catechism for voters," which is of Interest to all who-live and vote in Wayne County. How many of these questions can you answer? - What are the qualifications of a voter? ft He or she must be 21 years old or ' over, live in the United States a year or more, live in Indiana six months or -more, live In .the township 60 days or "more, live In the precinct 30 days or more. " f r: Is it best to register on the : first date, Sept. 4? Yes. If yon should move to another precinct, you can register again on Oct. 4. "V - Does the voter have to go to the registration place on registration day? No. The voter can fill out his application and swear to It before a notary public, or have two voters of the precinct sign it certifying that the rtatements made In the application are true, and send It to the county auditor or hand it to the Republican or Democratic precinct committeeman or some .voter of the precinct to be filed on registration day. T Can a voter get a Manic and fill It out ahead of the registration date? ' Yes. Address the county auditor or call on the Republican or Democratic precinct committeeman or inquire at your nearest, drug store. The application, when made out, can be sent to the county auditor or left with either precinct committeeman or some voter of the precinct who can file It on registration day. Away From Home. But not if he has only declared his intention or has not taken out his first papers. Can a foreign born woman married to a native born mnn register? Yes. She upps the white blank, the srme as her husband. Native Born Wife. Can the native born wife of a foreign fcern register? Ye, if her husband has been naturalized. If he has not, she can not register. She uses the white blank. Can a young man or woman who is rot 21 years old but who will be 21 before election register? Yes. Does a voter forfeit his right to vote if he registers properly and then moves from his precinct after October 4? Yes. The voter must register and -eslde in the precinct at least thirty dfis just before election. Should a married woman sign her pa me or use the Initials of her husband? She must sign her own name in full, without using Initials. For example, -Mrs. Mabel Rice Smith." If a woman married after she registers Sept. 4 should she register again? No, unless she moves out of the precinct. Provision will be made on election day for a woman to vote under her married name if registered under her maiden name. Can a woman servo on a registration board? Yes. Any voter can servo on the board if properly appointed.
