MEN MORE INFLUENCED BY MOVIE STAR THAN WOMEN, SAYS CRITIC Just how far does the movie star Influence woman's dress? In an article in a recent number of a motion picture magazine the author told how women were getting their ideas for gowns from the gowns they see worn by the tstars on the screen. The woman is not so under the influence of the screen as the man. This statement may seem revolutionary, but nevertheless it is true. For proof, a certain young man uses exactly the same brand of hair "slicker" that "Wally" Reid does. You know, the stuff the men put on their fluffy locks to make them shine. And another young, man says that he tries to dress like the movie actors because the girls demand it. He says the girls use the well dressed movie actors like "Wally" and Tom Moore and other heart killers as their standard for the male styles and expect the young men in their vicinity to keep up. Watch Dress, Too. Everyone knows that the boys watch the hair dressing of male stars and then copy. When a popular movie guy comes out in a string tie or a jazz bow they are sure to -sell well in the haberdasheries. Generally the movie actors wear the very latest things and it is only natural to follow suit. Then too it is safer to follow mens styles in the movies, than women's, because sometimes . the women are dressed very inappropriately. No doubt it's good advertising to tell a young man when you are trying to sell him a wild suit . that Wallace Reid (he ' seems to be a favorite dresser) has just appeared in one exactly like it. Of course the young man who probably has red hair and freckles, will forget that Wally would probably looK well In anything. One can't deny that the women are influenced to a certain extent, but the women are more apt to read about Paris styles in the style book for their information than at the movie actresses and then they go to the movie and if the popular actress is not attired to the last notch, she is doomed by the severe criticism of the woman well versed in the latest female creation. A movie actress as a rule is more criticised than admired from a woman's viewpoint. Though when she does copy she does it in detail. Constance Talmadge once wore a very attractive sweater in one of her pictures which took the fancy of one of, Richmond's young girls. Counted Stitches on Sweater. She wanted one like it, so to be sure she would make no mistake and lose some stitches, she counted them off the sweater on Miss Talmadge's picture on the billboard outside the theatre and the result was a chic yellow sweater. Young girls who want to ruin their hair and complexions try all the sham-
Dandruff Surely Destroys The Hair
Girls if you want plenty of thick, beautiful, glossy, silky hair, do by all means get rid of dandruff, for it will starve your hair and ruin it If you con't. It doesn't do much good to try to brush or wash it out. The only sure way to get rid of dandruff is to dissolve it, then you destroy it entirely. To do thi?, get about four ounces of ordinary liquid arvon; apply it at night when retiring; use enough to moisten the scalp and rub it in gently with the finger tips. By morning, most if not all, of your dandruff will be sone, and three or four more applications will completely dissolve and entirely destroy every tingle sign and trace of it. You will find, too, that all itching and digging of the scalp will stop, and your hair will look and feel a hundred times better. You can get liquid arvon at any drug store. It is inexpensive and four ounces is all you will need, no matter how much dandruff you have. This simple remedy never fails. Advertisement.

poos and cold creams that are advertised with endorsements from favorite movie queens. Every now and then an actress starts a fad In hair dressing or some novel piece of wearing apparel but it is denied that women try to dress like movie actresses in quite the same way the men do.
WABASH CENTENARIAN . MAY NOT HAVE GUARDIAN WABASH, Ind., Aug. 19. In all probabilities the suit filed In Circuit court here several months ago asking that a guardian be appointed for "Uncle" Jack Higgins, 102 years old, thought to be the oldest civil1 war veteran in the state, will be dropped. Alvah Taylor, also a civil war veteran, announced today that he had obtained a $72-a-month pension for "Uncle" Jack and intimated that the guardianship suit would end. The suit was filed to obtain the increased pension.
DRY LAWS BLAMED FOR RAISIN PRICE
If the enormous imports of raisins from Spain and other countries do not bring down the prices of raisins in the United States, it probably will be because of an abnormal demand .growing out of national prohibition. For the first six months of 1920, nearly 8,000,000 pounds of raisins were
reau of markets of the United States'
department of agriculture says is a Quantity "that exceeds the total raisin exports from that port for the sevenyear period. 1913-1919, inclusive." It appears that so far the large imports have not reduced prices and that the California Associated Raisin company, which controls about 88 per cent of the crop of the United States and which is criticised for alleged monopolistic methods in a recent report of the. federal trade commission to the department of Justice, is not worried over the imports. The company has set a price for the 1920 crop of 21 centda pound to wholesalers for seeded Muscatels, and the same price

It might be supposed that because of the large imports from Spain and elsewhere. Imported raisins would be offered at a price lower than that fixed by the ca::zornIa association, but It appears that the Imported raisins are promptly disposed of without cutting

Lemons are sold on the Indianapolis public market at 15 and 20 cents a dozen.' The California lemon growers had to reduce their prices to meet the competition of imports, and they are a6ktng for a higher tariff, the rate now being cent a pound, or about 42 cents a box.
