Gay Bathing Parties Are Feature of Miller's Case For Divorce From WiU Charging that his wife, Pauline Mil. ler, had kept company with neveral men and that her particular affinity was Ralph Jones, a former member of the Richmond police force, Charles Miller, an employe of the Richmond Baking company, testified before Judge Bond Friday in his suit foi divorce. The' divorce was granted on the ground of adultry. John Scott testified that in the sum. mer of 1918 he saw Mrs. Miller and two men bathing in a stream at Thistlethwaite Falls. He said all of them had neglected to put on bathing suits. He identified one man. Miller stated that his wife left him in May, 1919, and that shortly after her departure Jones resigned from the police force. He said he did not know the present whereabouts of Jones. Miller testified that he had seen his wife in the company of the former policeman on several occasions. He said he had known of her accompanying Jones while Jones was walking on his beat. Nellie Allen Sues Too. The case of Nellie J. Allen against Thomas J. Allen, for divorce, was also heard by Judge Bond Friday. Mrs. Allen charged that her husband was jealous of her without cause, and that he treated her in a cruel and Inhuman manner and forced her to leave their home. She said that on the day she left him he told her she could leave a few household articles so that she could return from time to time to keep the house in order. "I'll give you some hugs and kisses once in a while," remarked Allen as his wife departed, according to her statement. She told him he was badly mistaken, Mrs. Allen testified. Allen is opposing his wife's divorce action. CALIFORNIA FEELS QUAKES; CALIFORNIA QUAKES? NOl SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY. Aug. 6 Earth disturbances continuing more than three hours were recorded on the seismograph here. Father J. S. Ricard of the Santa Clara university observatory Eaid the temblors were not in California. "The tracings on the record here were indistinct and from their uniformity it is apparent the shocks were not of a violent nature," he said. FINNEY ELEVATOR BURNS ATTICA, Ind., Aug. 6. Fire which originated in an unknown manner destroyed the grain elevator at Finney. 12 miles west of this city, entailing a loss of $22,000, Thursday. The firereduced th elevator to ashes and consumed about a carload of coal. TURKISH BATH SLEEPING PROVES COSTLY AFFAIR NEW YORK. Aug. 6. While 175 patrons of the Lenox Turkish baths were sleeping, five robbers entered the establishment and after holding up five attendants, escaped with about f 10,000 worth of valuables checked by the sleepers.
