WASHINGTON. Dorothy Dalton, who is to appear at the Washington Theatre, Wednesday and Thursday in her new picture, "Black is White," recently astonished the New York critics and public by ncoring an omphatic hit in the leading role In "Aphrodite," the big Egyptian Epoctacle and sensation of the current season. It was regarded as nothing short of marvelous that Miss Dalton, vhose experience on the speaking stage is extremely limited, should meet the exacting requirements of "Aphrodite" so admirably and gave a performance that few legitimate stars could equal. Outside of short engagements early in her career in stock and vaudeville, the pretty actress has always devoted herself exclusively to pictures. "The idea that the stage is much more rigid in his demands than motion pictures is a fallacious one," said Miss Dalton recently. "Acting before the casnera, where there are no clever lines to help you over difficult places, where no friendly audience applauds you, and where every gesture and facial expression must be exaggerated to Just the exact degree, is a difficult task, I assure you. For instance, one would go far before discovering a

Girlish, Wrinkle-Free Skin Easy to Have

Since its remarkable astringent and tonic properties became known, clever women all over the world have been using the saxolite face bath to "tone up" their faces, remove wrinkles and draw flabby cheeks and neck back to normal. After using the solution, the face immediately feels much firmer. The skin tightens evenly all over the face, thus reducing lines and sagginess. The formula is: Powdered saxolite, one ounce, dissolved in witch hazel, onehalf pint. This simple and harmless face bath Is a splendid thing for the outdoor girl. Bince sun, wind and flying dust are so provocative of squinting and other contortions which cause wrinkles and crows' feet. stage play that demands such versatility and unstinted outlay of the emotions as 'Black is White', my last picture. I play three roles. Each had to be differentiated from the other completely. It was tho hardest assignment I ever had, but I enjoyed every minute of it." MURRAY Vitagraph has provided Earle Williams with a Bplendid supporting cast for "Captain Swift," which will be shown at the Murray theater the last half of the week. While two of its members, Florence Dixon, the leading woman, and Adelaide Prince, who has an important rolo, are comparative newcomers to the screen, the other members are well known as capable actors. Several are English, which Is particularly appropriate, as the play is typically British. Miss Dixon, who plays opposite Mr. Williams, is a prominent member of tho famous Zicgfeld Follies and, while a favorite on tho spoken stage, only recently has taken up motion picture work. That ehe has so quickly won the distinction of leading lady evidences her ability. Miss Prince is now playing a leading rolo in "Adam and Eve" at the Longacre theater in

New York. She is a niece by marriage of the famous tragedian, Edwin Booth, and was for many years a member of the Augustin Daly stock company, the greatest organization of its kind the American stage has ever known. Alice Calhoun, who has the leading ingenue role, is a new, but regular memb.er of the Vitagraph's stock company.
