MARSHALL IS AGAIN j IN RAPE AC DCCIIIT
T linui. MO I1L.UULI OF REPEATED JJRGING ! '. SAN FRANCISCO, CaL, June 28. .The Indiana delegation today re-entered Vice President Marshall as a presidential candidate, with his authority, placed upon the ground that V A f tilt . J 1 . ,

j Eton said that the delegates will vote j for the vice president, but no formal nominating speech will be made. Whether the delegates will vote for 'him on the first ballot will be determined later. The vice president was elected a member fo the resoltions committee. , which will provide him an opportunity !to express himself on platform matters. In his statement to the Indiana delegates he said: T "Yesterday I met former Senator .Thomas Taggart and former Governor Ralston. I truthfully told them that I had no desire to be nominated for president; that my great political desire was to restore Indiana to the Democratic column; that I was not sufficiently conversant with the situation In the state to know what would best aid that result. Consents To Use of Name "I said that If former Governor Ralston desires to be vice president I I would go down the line for him; then !I said If it would help the Democratic I cause in Indiana the delegates might vote for me In the convention.
"I now repeat that statement to you. I honestly do not want to make the fight, even if I could be nominated, but I do desire to do all I can for the Hoosler Democracy. I do not, how-

ever, propose to be charged with secretly having sought the nomination. "You are free to do as you please, with the proviso that you are doing It for the good of the party in Indiana." When the vice president cam here several days ago he announced that he would not accept the nomniation and that ho is in no sense a candidate. He has depeated that statement
ac conierences wnn newspaper men and to leaders of several delegations who have insisted on supporting him. Thomas Taggart, Benn Bosse. Chairman of the State Committee, and other Democratic leaders in Indiana have thought for some time that the vice president would be the strongest candidate, as far as they are concerned, and they have been working quietly
ror rum. About a month ago, Mr. Taggart met Charles F. Murphy, chief of Tammany, at French Lick, and the Marshall candidacy was discussed then. It was reported that they leaned towards Marshall, and Murphy in one of his veiled statements at New York, admitted that he liked Marshall for the presidency. Disclaims Murphy Support The vice president immediately issued a statement denying that any negotiations were under way between
him, Taggart and Murphy. Since then Murphy and Governor Alfred E. Smtih, of New York, have conferred at French Lick with Taggart, and while Murphy is for Governor James M. Cox, of Ohio, Taggart said here today that Marshall is Murphy's second choice. Since coming here, Vice President Marshall, former Governor Ralston and other Indiana leaders have gone over the situation carefully. They seem to have concluded that there is a very good chance for Marshall. They have proceeded on the hypothesis that Murphy and his allies in this convention never will stand for McAdoo. In fact, Murphy is being quoted as saying that he has more than a third of the delegates pledged against McAdoo. If he has, McAdoo could not be nominated even with the entire force of the ad-

Girls 'and Boys Differ
In what they see. That was well
illustrated in our bakery a short time ago. A class of sturdy, upstanding fcoys from St. Mary College, just crossing the threshold of manhood, made a trip through our bakery. They were interested most in seeing the "wheels go round." They saw the stores of mate-' rials and noted the well-known brands of quality products the materials from which the large variety of "Edgemont" products are made. The big mixers, blending the materials, and kneading the dough so thoroughly, so cleanly, claimed their attention. It was hard to pull them away from the machines that were rolling, forming and cutting the Cookies, Cakes and Crackers.
The ovens, the convevors. the
packing and the big motor delivery trucks, all shared the interest of the boys who, like all boys, were mechanically inclined. How different were the girls from Fairview High School. Attractive they were, and dainty in their spring dresses. They saw the clean floors, trays and packing tables all spick and span. They exclaimed with delight," 63 the Cookies, Cakes and Crackers came from the ovens baked to a turn rich golden brown. Or they whispered to each other: "Don't they loCk delicious" as they saw the appetizing Cakes packed in the pure-food tins. But. both girls and boy agreed that "Edgemont" prod,, ucts were "unusually" good. "
Our bakerg is alivavs open for inspection. We shall be glad to have more girls end boys and women and men to visit our plant Out " latchsving" is always out for all. ministration Democrats, who are working for him. Radical Combine Predicted. On the other hand, Taggart and the Indiana leaders, while very friendly to Governor Cox, believe it is not improbable that Bryan and the radical "drys" will line up against the Ohio candidate and that they will muster more than one third of the delegates against him, in which event, he would be as helpless as Champ Clark was
at Baltimore eight years ago It is the belief of the Indiana leaders that the Bryan minority opposition to Governor Cox apd the opposition of Murphy to McAdoo may bring about a deadlock that will result in the nomination of a "dark horse." They figure that the vice president is better known to the country, and
especially to the delegates, than John W. Davis, of West Virginia, who figures in the "dark horse " calculations, and that of all the candidates not in the first line here Marshall stands the best chance. They were prepared to vote straight through the convention for Marshall, or until such a time as it was apparent that the vice president had no chance. They also are saying that a united effort for Marshall will help their ticket in Indiana, whether he wins or loses. Marshall has assured Taggart
here that he is going the limit for him in Indiana. It is evident here that there is a better feeling between Marshall, Taggart and their political lieutenants than ever before. SEE REVOLUTION IN ITALY OUTBREAKS; RIOTS ARE QUELLED (By Associated Press) ROME, June 28 Reports of disorders in widely separated parts of Italy appear to coroborate the impression that they are part of a reep scheme to overturn social order throughout
the entire country. Unemployment is
the alleged reason for the strikes now in progress and for rioting. At Cadore. Venetia, red flags have been hoisted above the municipal buildings. Telegraph lines have been
-ut and roads blocked with trees at
Lozzo, Callazo and Domegee. Carabiniers in armored cars have dispersed rioters at Bribasso. At Roncole, an aqueduct has beer cut. Quiet was restored today by carabiniers in the central part of Ancona, according to dispatches from that city,
the anarchists who have been creating
serious disorders there retiring to the suburbs. 193 Are Arrested One hundred and ninety-three persons were placed under arrest by the troops, reinforcements for which still
were arriving today.
Sisimeone Schneider, chief of the
communist-anarchistic party, died today in a hospital as a result of wounds
received in the previous fighting.
PISA, Italy, June 27 Barracks were
attacked here yesterday, but the as-,
sailants were repulsed. The rioters built barricades in the streets and pillaged liquor and clothing stores until order was restored by reinforcements to the garrison.
BRESCIA, Italy. June 27 Socialists and Popularists have clashed at Rezzat. Police forces intervened and in the fighting one policeman was killed and it is believed there were several othr victims.
