LOS ANGELES BIGGEST CITY ON COAST NOW, CENSUS REPORT SHOWS

WASHINGTON. June 10. Los Antilles has outstripped San Francisco and become the largest city west of SL Louis during the last ten years, the census bureau announcement of the populations of the two cities Wednesday night shows. It has also outgrown Buffalo, 10th largest city In the country In 1910, as

well as Milwaukee, Washington, New-

ork, Cincinnati and New Orleans. Los Angeles now has a population of 675,480, an increase of 256,282,

while San Francisco had 508,410 in

habitants. Los Angeles' rate of growth was 80.3 per cent compared with San Francisco's rate of 21.9 per cent during the 10 years.

These five are Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, and Kansas City,

made public, the ranking of the coun

try's 20 largest cities will remain

6omewhat doubtful.

San Francisco ranked as 11th most

populous city in 1910 with 416,912 in

habitants and Los Angeles ranked as

17th city in 1910 with a population of 219,198. San Francisco up to 1910 made its most rapid growth during the

recades from 1860 to 1S80, while Los

Angeles made its most rapid strides during the more recent decades.
