MAYBE THERE WAS SOMETHING TO TALK FRAZEE SOLD RUTH "TO SAVE THE CLUB"

X:: aMI

When Boss Frazee of the Red Six' knocked the wind out of the baseball world by selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees, one of the reasons he gave was that the sale was necessary to preserve the rest of the club. He areued that the club, with Ruth on it, had come under the stigma of the "one man club" name, the one man being1 Commercial League The weatherman permitting, the first scheduled scrap of the Commercial baseball league will be played at Exhibition Park at 5 p. m.. Sportsmen expect the great English flat-race meeting Derby which is held here from June 1 to June 4 to eclipse the success of any horse race meeting which has been held here in recent years. Derby week is looked upon more as the workingman's holiday and hundreds of the artisan class take their summer vacation at the beginning of June in order that they may be able to spend a few days of it at the races. The most popular day of the week, however, is Derby Day, when the race for the blue ribbon event of the English turf is run. "DANDERINE" Stops Hair Coming Out; Doubles Its Beauty. The sale, he believed, would enable him to bring" back harmony and strengthen the general playing of the team. Baseball fans and writers figured the Sox, losing Mays and Ruth, were shot. But the American league race to date doesn't indicate that. Rather, the remarkable showinr the

Red Sox have made suggests that perhaps Frazee and Manager Ed Barrow had the right dope. Labor Calendar The Carpenter's Union Number 912, meets in the Rd Men's hall. Tuesday evening. S. C. EARLHAM FINISHES SEASON OF 1919-'20 WITH MUCH PRESTIGE

With the close of the state track and field meet at Lafayette Saturday afternoon, finis was written for the best athletic season Earlham college has had in several years. Football, basketball, baseball and track teams that represented Earlham all were placed high. Credit for this performance must be given to Coach Ray B. Mowe. When this mentor came to Earlham three vears aeo. athletics were demoralized. Richmond high school was trimming ihe Earlham basketball team; the Quaker football machine resembled a flivver; and the track team dreamed of past glories. The energetic Mowe, as assistant coach, put an end to this. When he became athletic director, things immediately began to hum. The 1913 track, baseball, football and basketball teams jumped into state prestige. The 1919-1920 season tops the cli max, however. First the football season . was finished in a blaze of glory with victories over Franklin and Butler, hated rivals. Also Wabash won a fluke victory over the Quakers, al though having one of the toughest bat-1 ties of the year. Easketballers Not So Good. Then comes the basketball season. This was not so successful as the football season. The bright spots of the Quaker basketball season were the close game against the Indianapolis Em-Roes and the victory over Wabash. Earlham was picked by state critics to follow Wabash in state basketball standing. Purdue, DePauw, Indiana, Wabash, Earlham, Notre Dame and Valparaiso came in the order named.
