AT0N TO INSTALL FILTRATION SYSTEM, CITY DADS DECIDE EATON", O., May 12. Eaton's water orks system ia to be equipped -with filtration plant, at a cost of $27,500. This has been definitely determined by the city council, which has taken formal action to Issuance of bonds to provide for the improvement. In determining the question of a filtration plant, .council declared an emergency existed, in view of recommendations submitted by the state board of health, following a survey of the situation, which means that under the emergency act the bonds can be Issued without a vote of the people upon the the question. The emergency lies in the fact, It is said, that the driven wells from which the city's water supply is ob tained, are giving out, ana tne oniy assurance of an adequate supply is the Installation of a filtration plant. With the filtration plant in operation, the water supply would be drawn from Sevenmile creek, near the waterworks pumping station. The Intake daily, according to figures announced, would be approximately one million gallons. The filtration plant's capacity will be 750,000 gallons daily, which with nn average daily consumption of 24S.ono gallons, would insure la water supply ample for any emergency, it is pointed out. The seven Lutheran churches in (Treble county are this week conducting a financial campaign in the interest of the Lutheran world service 'movement. Quota for this county is ; $1,600. Rev. George Sixt of Eaton, is chairman of the county organization. The local county campaign will close next Sunday. Race Purse $350. Purses in the races at the Preble county fair this fall will be ?350 each, a false of $50 in each purse, as compared with those offered the last few years. The entry fees have been fixed on a straight 10 per cent basis. Revision of the premium list for this year's fair has just been completed by the fair board. , Harvey Huffman Dead. Harvey Huffman, 36, native of (Treble county, died in Portland, Ore., according to advices received by his Irother, William Huffman, residing Kvest of Eaton. SEEKS NOMINATION FOR GOVERNOR IN LONE STAR STATE

f Dwight L. Levelling. Dwight L. Levelling- of Dallas, Texas, has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor of that state. He is a strict Democrat and indorses Wilson's administration. He opposes the league of nations covenant, even with explanatory reservations, but condemns the action of the Republicans in delaying the peace treaty. Threatened to Shoot, Says Wife; Is Given Divorce Louisa Avery was granted a divorce from Vernon Avery in circuit court, Wednesday morning on charge of cruel and inhuman treatment. The defendant, who did not appear, was ordered by the court to pay the costs, $50. The plaintiff charged Avery w ith hitting her on the chest, and "blacking her eyes," and that he always complained whether or not supper was ready when he came home. Evidence presented by the plaintiff accused the defendant of demanding the $22.50 a week which she made working in a factory, while he was at the same time making $36 a week himself. "I was afraid not to give it to him for he threatened to shoot me, and always cursed me terribly," said Mrs. Avery. 30 Knights Templar Leave For State Conclave Today About 30 local Knights Templar left Richmond Wednesday at 8:45 a. m., to attend the state conclave in Indianapolis. The conclave opened Tuesday afternoon with an informal reception at the Masonic Temple. A dinner and musical concert were given Tuesday night at. the Hotel Lincoln for the wives of distinguished guests and for wives of present and past officers of the grand commandery. A theatre party followed the dinner and concert. The drill work throughout the threeday session will be in charge of Indianapolis Rapier commandery. Bossert never had more than the votes from Union, Shelby, Franklin and Fayette, although some of his Wayne county supporters who were present, said before the meeting that he would be elected without fail by the chairmen. Career Hung on Decision, Friends of the Liberty man argued that his political career in the Sixth district depended upon his election Tuesday,, His opponents said the question which the county chairmen had to settle was not Bosserfs political fate, but the welfare of the Republican party in the Sixth district which would be injured if Bossert were named again. They also pointed out that the four counties with the biggest Republican votes were opposed to Bossert and had elected county chairmen that were inimical to him. They said this indicated very plainly that Bossert was not acceptable to the rank and file of the party.. The judicial race in Union and Fayette counties played its part in the persistence of Zell. Ralph Himelick, of Connersville, is the Republican nominee for judge of Union and Fayette counties. Zell, it is reported, said that he could not afford to jeopardize the support of Union county in the judicial race by opposing the wish of Bossert to be re-named district chairman. Nothing Moved Him.
