"WE SURE EARNED BONUS" CITY BOYS CLAIM ON BALLOT
No noticeable change In evident in the referendum ballots that Wayne county service men continue to send into the Palladium office. They all want a bonus of some kind, and they are nearly unanimous for a cash one. Requests for more money for the overseas men than for the boys who stayed on this side still come in. More ballots are marked for the same compensation for all than in any previous counting, although those favoring bonus according to time are still leading. Want Lot on Ballot In the remarks column one Richmond young man not only -wants a cash bonus, but also writes: "Give us a Republican president." Borne ask for everything printed on the ballot, and others for things not mentioned. One boy voiced the belief of most of them when he said: "We sure earned it."

WASHINGTON That matrimony is "the woman game" in the same sense that business is "the man game" and that a woman may use any weapon in her power to obtain her objective the same as a man operating in Wall Street and carrying on any sort of business, is the theme in "The Woman Game", the latest Selznick picture-play starring beautiful Elaine Hammerstein, which is playing at the Washington theatre today and tomorrow. Elaine. Hammerstein is seen in the role of an impoverished society beauty, who seeks to make a good marriage because of the laments of her mother who impresses upon the girl that this is her duty. As Amy. Miss Hammerstein is splendid. She is surrounded by a capable cast and the entire production is another big success for the Selznick studios. The wealth of detail noticeable in all Selznick pictures is present and the usual wonderful interior scenes are much in evidence. MURRETTE An unusual and quaint form of plotting is one of the more intensely interesting features of Marshall Neilan's first independent production, "The River's End," from the story by James Oliver Curwood and distributed by First National, which is showing here at the Murrette theatre on Friday and Saturday for the last times. Tito introductory scenes of the film find John Keith, haunted for yeaTs by the murder of Judge Kirkstone, captured by Derwent Conniston of the Canadian Mounted Police. A striking resemblance between the two men in build and facial characteristics leads the officer, when suddenly stricken
with a fatal disease, to urge Keith to impersonate him and return to the Post with an account of Keith's death. The climax of the picture is summed up In the surprise that awaits Keith "At The River's End". MURRAY Pride of family is revealed as a trait as strongly entrenched in the character of rustic, rugged provincial mountaineers of the south as among the royalty of Europe in Vitagraph's latest picture, "The Birth of a Soul." This production, with Harry T. Morey in the stellar role, will be presented at the Murray theater on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The picture sets forth in its dramatic action how eevry native of the mounaction how every native of the moulting and honor of his family. Riches do not count. Education and refinement are unheard of. but the moun-
