SOUTHWESTERN OHIO WOMEN CONVENE AT EATON FOR MEETING
EATON, 0 April 9. Annual conference of the Southwest Ohio District Federation of Women's Clubs opened i here this afternoon and will continue over Saturday afternoon. The Preble County Federation of Women's Clubs is entertaining the meeting. The conference opened at 2 p. m. today, -with Mrs. George D. Antrim, Dayton, vice-president of the Southwest district, presiding. The session was taken up with conferences on art,
civics and music, with Mrs. John Mc-
Kee, of Springfield, conducting the art section; Mrs. Elmer Lawrence, Cincinnati, the civics section, and Mrs. Ralph A. Herbruck, Dayton, the music section. The meeting is being held in the auditorium In the courthouse.

a reception for state and district of'
fleers and delegates will feature a ses
sion this evening. The musical feature is scheduled for 8 p. m., the reception to follow in the lobby of the courthouse, which has been decorated and arranged for the affair. The program of music will conclude with an address, "My People," by Mrs. Anton Kruchio, Hungarian interpreter, of Dayton. Mrs. William Sharp. Columbus, president of the Ohio Federation of Women's Clubs, is a prominent figure in the conference. She will deliver an address Saturday afternoon. J. E. Shultz, welfare department, N. C. R., Dayton, also will speak at this session. A luncheon will be given at noon In the Pythian temple. Satruday morning's session will be devoted to a program of addresses, among which will be an address of welcome by Mayor Harry 1, Risinger. The delegates and visitors to the conference number between 300 and 400. The district federation is made up of 112 clubs, representing Preble, Montgomery, Butler, Hamilton, Warren and Clarke counties. Prizes Are Awarded. In the third school group silver medal contest held this week at New Paris, with representatives of the district schools of Jefferson and Jackson townships and West Alexandria competing, the winners were as follows r
Scripture reading, Mabel O'Hara, Jackson township, she winning from Gladys Hill, Jefferson township, and Dessie Crouse, West Alexandria; piano .Bolo, Ruth Beekley, of West Alexandria, Bhe defeating Mary Huffman, Jackson township, and Mary Mills, Jefferson township; recitation, Alice Sheffer, Jefferson township, she defeating Mary House, Jackson township, and Juanita Coftman, West Alexandria; vocal solo, Loureva Penland, Jefferson township, she defeating Daniel Reid, Jacson township, and Marguerite Wyrick, West Alexandria; discussion, Emory Glander, West Alexandria, he defeating Robert Reld, Jefferson township, and Gladys Waits, Jackson township.
The fourth and final group meeting and contest will be held tonight at Verona, with representatives of the schools of Verona, Lewisburg and Monroe townships competing. The
candidates are: Scripture reading, Nettie Foreman, Lowell Penland, John Bernheisel; piano solo, Dorothy Mills, Ruth Crane, Orpha Howell; recitation.

Grange Organized Organization of a grange at Camden, with a charter membership of 130, has been effected, according to H. W. Bragg, New Paris, deputy grange master for Preble county. E. V. Ries is master of the new grange; Blanche White, lecturer, and Maude Dailey, secretary. Mrs. Welsh Heads League Mrs. E. E. Welsh is president of the Civic league, she having been elected to head the organization for the present year, at the annual election of officers this week. Mrs. W. S. Fogarty is vice-president; Mrs. Ola Potts, secretary; Mrs. W. H. Bucke, assistant secretary, and Miss Elizabeth Morningstar, treasurer. April 26 Campaign Opens April 26 to May 2 has been fixed as
