The Randolph county board of education, with all members present, held a meeting in the county superintendent's office Monday afternoon. Birds of Indiana You May Not Know
(Furnished by the State Department of Conservation.) The bluebird, so far as is known, cannot be accused of stealing fruit or preying upon the crops of the farmer. It has been established that 76 per cent of its food consists of insects, and that most of them are harmful to man. As a singer, he does not equal his cousin, the robin. His notes are few, and not greatly varied, though sweetly and plaintively modulated and never loud. In the autumn they gather In flocks and seem reluctant to make ready for their journey to the south. - There are at least three species of the common bluebird on this continent while In Indiana woods there is the blue Jay and the indigo bird. The range of the bluebird extends from the Gulf of Mexico north through the eastern part of the United States to Nova Scotia, Ontario and Manitoba, and west to the Rocky mountains. In the southern part of its range, it is a resident; in the northern part a migrant. It comes north very early, and returns south very late in the year. The adult male bluebird is about six and a half Inches long and has a wing
extent of about nine inches. The whole upper parts are of a rich sky
blue, with purple reflections, the bill
and legs are black. The female Is

Miami President Predicts
Heavy Growth for Schools OXFORD, O., April 7. Commenting on the growth of education in Ohio, Raymond M. Hughes, president of Miami University, who is a' close student in educational conditions throughout the country, and particularly in this state, says:
educational institutions, state-supported and otherwise, will, ten years from J
this time, enroll a total of not less than 37,000 students. This number will be an Increase of 48 per cent over the figures for this, the banner year in the history of Ohio's educational institutions. "Of this number of students ihe state-supported colleges and universities will be called upon to accommodate not less than 16,000 students, and to do this properly will necessitate an annual appropriation of something like $6,000,000." President Hughes Dases his statement upon statistical reports of gains in the enrollment of Ohio Institutions covering a period of SO years. An average annual iacrease of $250,000 will be necessary for the next ten years, lie says, to accommodate the growth In attendance at ihe state institutions alone.

GOOD FENCES ARE AID TO GOOD HOME GARDEN More neighborhood trouble has originated from neighbor's chickens destroying garden crops than from any other one source, it has been asserted. A good closely woven wire fence is the best insurance that can be taken out against such troubles. A garden was being destroyed by a neighbor's chickens, and the owner bored small holes in grains of corn and tied a thread about a foot in length to each kernel of corn. On the other end of the thread he tied small tags on which was printed, "I have been scratching in my neighbor's garden." When the fowls went home with one or more of these tags hanging from, their beaks, there was no further trouble. A good fence not only keeps out the neighbor's chickens, but dogs and cats as well.

TAP EARTH FOR HEAT. The Inventor of the steam turbine, Sir Charles Parsons, advocates drilling a hole into the earth's crust for a distancce of from ten to twelve miles, thereby tapping the inexhaustable supply of heatifof the interior of the earth. As he points out, all parts of the earth will require different depths of bores to reach heat. At Lardarello, Italy, heat power sufficient to run ten
thousand horsepower turbines was found at about 500 feet. In Alaska, heat reached the boiling point of water at only sixty feet. In Ohio, wells, primarily drilled for oil, were warmed at 8.000 feet to 188 degrees Fahrenheit. This he thinks will answer the question: After coal, what?

Does the coming of Spring with all its pleasures mean anything to YOU? "That all depends," may be your answer and admittedly, "it all depends" it all depends upon whether or not your system has withstood the exacting siege of winter that leaves in its wake so many, many thousands of people with completely run-down systems. In fact, conspicuously in the minority are those who have completely avoided the ravages of winter maladies. True, there are thousands who were successful in warding off attacks of influenza and still more thousands who escaped pneumonia, but who is there that did not experience at least one heavy winter cold during the past season? Remember, only second in severity to pneumonia and influenza, Is the heavy, winter cough or cold. Like pneumonia and influenza, win. ter coughs and colds tend to weaken and materially affect almost every vital organ of the body. People who have suffered a heavy winter cough, yet feel that their systems have es. caped the strain of winter weather, are sadly mistaken. If they could but grasp the facts, they would not won-
j der why they feel so tired, sluggish,
lifeless and generally out-of-fix, when they know they should be full of "pep" and vitality, in perfect harmony with the invigorating breezes and sunshiny weather of Spring. Thousands of people are now taking Trutona, the Perfect Tonic, to overcome this weakened physical condition so prevalent at the close of winter and hundreds of public statements now being made daily, prove that none has been disappointed in Trutona as a reconstructive agency, system purifier and body invigorant. Trutona does its work quickly. It sueedily attacks the impurities in the blood that might, if left alone, bring serious results. It rebuilds brokendown tissues, strengthens the nerve centers and produces proper digestion and assimilation of food, at the same time throwing off any decayed matter that may have accumulated. In short, Trutona thoroughly and efficiently tones up every organ of the body and gives to your physical being the vigor and vitality, which alone can place within your reach the many pleasures which Spring offers to the healthy man and woman. Trutona is sold in Richmond at Clem Thistlethwaite's Six Drug Stores. Advertisement.
