Construction of a large concrete block warehouse, on North Third street, has been started by the Swayne-Robinson company. The Swayne-Robinson company is doing the greatest business in years and work on the new warehouse will be rushed, probably to be completed by the last of May. The new building will be a onestory concrete block structure, with ribbed glass windows. When finished it will have a floor area of 16,000 square feet. Bricks used in its building are being manufactured by the company. Will Have Largest Foundry With the completion of the new foundry addition north of the present

It was started about January 1 and officials hope for its completion by the last of April. The new foundry will be an addition to the present one. Plant Plenty of Corn In Your Home Garden Whoever invented Golden Bantam corn did a good job, for there is no product of the garden more appetizing, andthe best results can generally be secured with this variety. Golden Bantam is essentially an early corn. Other varieties, such as Country Gentleman and Evergreen, are best for later planting. One-fourth to one-half of a pint of seed of Golden Bantam corn will be all that is needed by the average home gardener. Plant it in rows three and one-half feet apart and hills three feet apart in the row, five kernels to the hill, and after the corn is up, thin to three good stalks in each hill. At least three or four cultivations or hoeings will be necessary. The secret of producing deep-grained succulent ears of Golden Bantam is to keep the plants growing. Corn planted in a single row across the garden seldom makes good full ears because the pollen from the tassel is blown by the wind, and does not fall on the silk. Where it is planted in a block, or several rows side by side, the pollen is blown from one row to another. , In large gardens where land Is plentiful, and when the growing season is sufficiently long, five to seven plantings of corn can be made and a continuous supply secured.

Birds of Indiana You May Not Know
(Furnished by the State Department of Conservation) The catbird gets its common name from its well-known note, "uu-eu, uuow", which it drawls out like a halfgrown kitten. The catbird, "the madcap cousin of the thrush," is about nine inches long, and has a wing extent of about 12 inches. In its general form it is slender and graceful. Its plumage is soft and blended. Its general color above Is slate gray, the head, tall and inner webs of the primaries being brownishblack. The wings are short, extending only to the base of the tail. Tail long, slender and well rounded at the end. In appearance the sexes are alike. The catbird ranges from Panama to Cuba and through the eastern part of the United States and west to the Rockies. It comes north about the middle of April and ventures south about the last of October. The usefulness and harmfulness of a bird depends upon the food it eats. The catbird is accused of doing much damage to grapes. Of its food, Prof. Judd, who examined 23 of their stomachs, says it consisted of 44 per cent animal or insect matter and 56 per cent of vegetable matter. Ants, beetles, caterpillars and grasshoppers constituted three-fourths of the animal matter, the remainder being made up of bugs, miscellaneous insects and spiders. One-third of the vegetable matter consisted of cultivated fruits and the remainder of wild fruits. This is not a bad record.
