The Diary of an Engaged Girl By PhyllU Phillips I

My room is very hushed tonight It is late. Maybe it is because some of my trousseau is decorating the bed and 6everal chairs. Such exquisite things as they are. Mother is sparing no expense to have me as gorgeous as possible for the great occasion. It makes me wonder for, for I have always adored fluffy undergarments and Ehe has insisted that I wear extremely simple things. Now, without any rhyme or reason, she is letting me have my head. When I asked her the reason for this sudden change in her attitude, ehe smiled mysteriously and said I

would know soon enough. It's all nonsense for her to wrap a veil of mystery about the things she does Just now, where I am concerned, for I am wise in my generation, what though she thinks me Ignorant. I know men. I also understand their tastes and transgressions. Poor little mother. We almost came to blows over my preference for bright colored undergarments this morning. Mother believes that every girl should go to her husband robed in purest white from tip to toe. That's awfully oldfashioned, to my way of thinking But I managed to have my own way somewhat. The results being those exhilerating green and lavender chiffon "pretties" lying over that chair. And that perfectly ravishing black chiffon negligee with the crushed roseates round the neck, that holds the place of honor on my couch! The very latest from Paris. I can assure you, and so becoming. Mother was icy when I explained in my voluble way how much more alluring was the contrast of black against white skin and how much more becoming pale pinks and laveders were than dead white. She shut her lips tightly as well as her mind, and sniffed. Once she murmured something about my having a naked mind, like most artists, but I may have been wrong about this. However, for better or for worse, as the saying has it, there lies the greater part of my fascinating trousseau. I must say there are times when my savoire-faire deserts me when I close my eyes and think of my being alone with .lack some day, and

all that But. goodness, millions of other girls have gone through the same thing, so who am I to ponder? There seems to be such a dreadful amount of fussing involved in the simple ceremony it's most discouraging. Cornelia says that that is where the whole trouble lies and that we would do much better to marry like the Indians. As for trousseaus well she is so Irreverant anyhow. She declares that they have so little to do with the case. I am feminine enough to want to begin my life with Jack under the most auspicious circumstances, so if being exquisitely clothed from head to foot will please him any the more I am for it. I am in a peculiar mood tonight, sort of bumming in the head. It's the lovely, soft air coming in at my windows, I think. (To be continued.)

SULPHUR CLEARS A PIMPLY SKIN

Apply Sulphur At Told When Your Skin Breaks Out.

Any breaking out of the skin on face, neck, arms or body is overcome quickest by applying Mentho-Sulphur. The pimples seem to dry right up and go away, declares a noted skin specialist. Nothing has ever been found to take the place of sulphur as a pimple remover. It is harmless and inexpensive. Just ask any druggist for a small jar of Mentho-Sulphur and use it like cold cream. SPRING FEVER Following Colds, Grip or Flu, Thin, Watery or Poisoned Blood (By Dr. Valentine Mott.)

At this time of year most people j

suffer from what we term spring fever " because of a stagnant condition of the blood, because of the toxins (poisons) stored up within the body during the long winter. We eat too much meat, with little or no green vegetables. Bloodless people, thin, anemic people, those with pale cheeks and lips, who have a poor appetite and feel that tired, worn or feverish condition in the spring-time of the year, should try the refreshing tonic Eowers of a good alterative and lood purifier. Such a tonic as druggists have sold for fifty years, is Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. It is a standard remedy that can be obtained in tablet or liquid form. Made without alcohol

from wild roots and barks. i Milwaukee, "Wis. "For the last: twenty years I have used Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, at times, as !

a general tome, ;

with excellent results. One bottle in the spring, and one in the fall, is usually all - sufficient. It has given me added strength and endurance and has greatly aided me in, following the strenuous life of a freight handler. I have also

found the Pleasant Pellets very bene
